Job Title: Software Developer

Company: SMRTR

Location: United States or Canada, Remote

Employment Type: Full-time

About SMRTR

SMRTR builds software that helps businesses run more efficiently. Together with our sister companies Shea, a SYSPRO ERP partner, and DTEC, a distribution ERP provider, we are part of Solen Software Group. Our customers rely on us every day, and our Subscriptions, Renewals, Collections & Accounting team keeps that relationship healthy, making sure software subscriptions, renewals and services are billed on time and accurately, and that outstanding balances are resolved quickly and professionally.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a software developer with 3–5 years of experience to build product features and integrations for NG and SMRTR TRAC. Our stack is Vue, TypeScript, Node.js and PostgreSQL, with services on the JVM (Scala).

Working with our Director of Software Engineering, you will help deliver our 2027 roadmap: connecting our products to the ERP systems our customers run (starting with SYSPRO), AI-powered document capture, and new NG and TRAC features. You will join a small, experienced team where what you build reaches customers quickly.

Key Responsibilities

• Product development
  • Build features across the front end (Vue, TypeScript) and back end (Node.js, Scala/JVM) for NG and SMRTR TRAC.
  • Design and work with PostgreSQL data models and queries (and some MongoDB), with attention to performance.
  • Fix defects and improve the reliability of the products you work on.
• Integrations and APIs
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and integrations between NG / SMRTR TRAC and ERP systems such as SYSPRO, Microsoft Dynamics 365, VAI and NCR, following the team's integration patterns.
  • Contribute to AI document capture (classification and data extraction) and the print-to-NG driver.
• Delivery and collaboration
  • Turn requirements from Professional Services, Sales and customers into working software, with guidance from engineering leadership.
  • Estimate your own tasks and deliver to agreed dates.
  • Support go-lives and help troubleshoot production issues.
• Engineering practices
  • Write tested, reviewed and secure code in our GitHub-based workflow with CI/CD.
  • Write clear technical documentation and release notes.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to work faster, safely.

What You Bring

Required

• 3–5 years of professional software development experience.
• Production experience with Vue.js, TypeScript and Node.js.
• PostgreSQL: schema design, SQL and query performance.
• JVM experience, preferably Scala.
• Experience building REST APIs and integrating with third-party systems.
• Git-based workflows, code review and automated testing.
• Clear communication with colleagues and, when needed, customers.
• Authorized to work in the United States or Canada; set up for remote work.

Nice to Have

• MongoDB.
• Android or Xamarin.
• ERP integration experience (e.g., SYSPRO, Microsoft Dynamics 365, VAI, NCR).
• Document management, OCR or AI document capture.
• Experience with manufacturing, distribution or food & beverage software.

How Success Is Measured

• Features and integrations delivered on schedule
• Quality: defects and production incidents in your code
• Accuracy of estimates on your own work
• Growing ownership of product areas over the year

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of USD 65,000–85,000 (United States) or CAD 95,000–110,000 (Canada), depending on experience and location
• Benefits according to country of employment (in the US: health, dental and vision insurance and a 401(k) with company match)
• Paid time off and company holidays
• Fully remote work with a collaborative, experienced team
