Job Description

Senior Web Developer

About the Company

Our client is a tech-enabled digital agency and media firm specializing in web engineering, performance marketing, and scalable brand experiences. By combining custom web development, modern digital architecture, and data-driven marketing strategies, the firm builds high-converting digital platforms that drive measurable business growth for clients across diverse industries.

Role Overview

We are seeking a forward-thinking, resilient Senior Web Developer to take ownership of web engineering projects, technical architecture, client communication, and team leadership. In this role, you will act as both a technical powerhouse and an operational champion within a fast-paced agency environment. You will lead full-stack web development projects, architect responsive and performance-optimized websites, and serve as a confident technical point of contact during client strategy meetings. Crucially, you will champion AI-forward development workflows—embracing agentic coding platforms, automated tools, and modern frameworks to drive operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Web Engineering & Architecture

  • Architect, build, and deploy high-performance custom websites, web applications, and digital platforms.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and modular code across modern front-end and back-end stacks (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, React, or modern CMS engines).
  • Ensure web assets are optimized for maximum site speed, cross-browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, and SEO best practices.
  • Manage web deployment pipelines, server environments, domain architectures, and API integrations across client sites.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical bugs, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities under tight agency timelines.

Technical Leadership & Client Strategy

  • Step up as a technical and operational leader, helping fill departmental leadership gaps and guiding junior developers.
  • Participate in high-level client meetings, translating complex technical web concepts into clear, actionable business strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with internal design, media, and marketing teams to ensure engineering deliverables align with campaign goals.
  • Scrape, scope, and estimate technical project requirements accurately to protect project timelines and agency margins.
  • Author clear technical specifications, architecture diagrams, and client-facing documentation.

AI-Forward Workflows & Continuous Innovation

  • Actively research, test, and adopt AI-first development tools, agentic coding environments, and automation platforms to streamline coding output.
  • Champion modern software engineering practices, pushing the agency team toward continuous technology adaptation rather than legacy methods.
  • Establish automated testing and code review procedures to ensure high code quality across all agency client accounts.

Required Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of professional experience as a Web Developer, Full-Stack Developer, or Technical Lead within a fast-paced digital agency or media firm.
  • Mastery of core front-end and back-end web technologies (HTML5, CSS/SASS, JavaScript/TypeScript, PHP, RESTful APIs).
  • Hands-on expertise building and customizing solutions on modern Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress, Headless CMS architectures) and custom frameworks.
  • Proven experience in a client-facing technical role with strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability—capable of taking ownership of projects, mentoring peers, and driving operational solutions.
  • Forward-thinking, tech-adaptable mindset with enthusiastic adoption of AI-assisted coding tools and agentic platforms.
  • High emotional resilience ("thick skin") and composure when managing multiple competing deadlines in a high-pressure agency environment.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection, high-performance workstation, and dedicated remote workspace.
  • Availability to work full-time hours, Monday–Friday, during U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST) business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous agency experience managing multiple concurrent client web accounts and retainers.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Vercel, Netlify) and CI/CD deployment automation.
  • Deep understanding of performance optimization, core web vitals, web accessibility (ADA compliance), and technical SEO.
  • Familiarity with modern AI agent development frameworks, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or automated coding assistants (Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot).

Technology & Tools

Candidates should be proficient with or capable of quickly mastering:

  • Front-End Tech (HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript, React/Vue)
  • Back-End & CMS (PHP, Node.js, WordPress, Headless CMS)
  • AI & Agentic Developer Tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot, MCP tooling)
  • Database Systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Version Control & Deployment (Git, GitHub, Vercel, Netlify)
  • Design & Prototyping Software (Figma, Adobe XD)
  • Project Management Platforms (Asana, ClickUp, Jira, Slack)

Experience: 5–8 years
Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday–Friday
Hours: Full-Time U.S. Eastern Standard Time (EST)

What This Role Offers

  • Operational leadership provided during departmental transitions, maintaining project momentum and quality.
  • Site performance optimization metrics (Core Web Vitals, load times, mobile responsiveness) across managed client sites.
  • Effective cross-functional collaboration with internal design, marketing, and leadership leads.
