Job Description

Position Summary

Leads the development & execution of short & long-term strategies for assigned Amcor Retail Private Label & Branded product lines. Owns & drives product line strategic fit & profitability for existing & prospective business. Oversight & execution of onboarding new business, product transitions & SKU rationalization. Extensive interaction with segment & functional leaders, & overall cross-functional organization.

Primary Job Functions

Strategy

• Develop and execute the strategic vision for the product line; existing, enhanced & new technology recommendations; includes product development roadmap for channel & product line effectiveness, growth & profitability; champion & lead cross-functionally to achieve the strategic initiatives.
• Provide product assortment and pricing direction for new business opportunities, optimization recommendations for existing business.
• Assess associated strategic investment plans with cross-functional collaboration.
• Collaborate with Sales leadership for top target growth (current & new)

Product Line Profitability

• P&L analysis for new business proposals & existing business management; lead the generation of critical inputs for cost analysis.
• Manage new products and customer pricing and profit, collaborating with Finance, Operations, Sourcing, Supply Chain and Sales
• Manage pricing strategies and monitor channel conflict.
• Champion cost-reduction projects; manage product mix and margin erosion on mature items.
• Identify equipment and process technology opportunities to improve cost position.
• Work with Supply Chain for raw material trends and cost-improvement opportunity.
• Effectively analyze ongoing market and competitive intelligence to manage price fit, consumer preferences, and competitor strategies for product and pricing
• Participate in customer meetings and trade events keep up with product trends, channel and consumer influences, and competitive challenges.

Support of Existing Business

• Develop appropriate assortment recommendations for new business opportunities & assortment optimization for existing customers; collaborate with Sales for customer insight.
• Work with Sourcing & R&D (product & packaging) to develop appropriate options for new/existing business, including new requirements for newly onboarding business.
• Lead efforts with cross-functional members to effectively manage outgoing business and SKU’s, to minimize exposure.
• Collaborate with Marketing & Package Engineering to develop & implement graphic elements for packaging & launches for branded & private label initiatives for new items & items for modification.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define service needs for new/changing/outgoing items.
• Lead cross-functional teams to manage regulatory, compliance and quality initiatives.
• Clear product positioning and communication strategies; collaborate with Marketing, manage product positioning tools, including web, trade, ad, sell sheets, research and presentations.

Competencies Required

• Ability to perform category analysis and category management.
• Understanding of profit & loss statement and how commercial and operational activities translate to P&L.
• Ability to work effectively with Sales leaders and internal functional leadership.
• Ability to drive new product development and lead the commercialization of products.
• Team player with ability to influence without direct authority to consistently drive profitable growth.
• Ability to organize, coordinate and direct cross-functional teams; commercial as well as operational.

Education, Experience, Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Admin or related field required.
• Preferred 5-7 years experience in Product Management and/or Sales preferred.
• Experience in product management strategy, new product development techniques
• Knowledge of retail and channel strategy management
• Proficiency with analytical tools for P&L and product line assessment for profitability & to Retailer-specific scenarios; and to benchmark consumer interests & influences
• Ability to design and translate effective strategies and tactics to the Sales team.
• Capability to build and foster excellent rapport with Sales and functional leadership and teams.
• Team player with ability to influence without direct authority.
• High proficiency level with MS Office applications
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, with demonstrated meeting facilitation skills.
• Ability to work well in high pressure environment, prioritize and multi task.
• Ability to travel (10-5%)
