Job Description

Summary

We’re seeking a mission-driven Product Lead to establish and advance GeneDx’s long-term revenue cycle management product strategy. This role owns a broad portfolio across the revenue lifecycle, including order and data capture, eligibility and coverage, prior authorization, clinical documentation, billing and claim readiness, patient financial experience and self-pay, vendor integrations, denials, and outcome measurement.

Initial areas of focus include improving prior authorization, automating document intake, identifying coverage earlier, increasing clinical completeness, and strengthening data exchange with external RCM platforms. These are examples within a broader portfolio; the Product Lead will continually identify and prioritize new RCM opportunities as needs evolve.

Success requires a strong understanding of healthcare revenue-cycle workflows, data, integrations, and patient financial experience, along with the ability to turn complex operational problems into a durable product strategy. The Product Lead translates that strategy into a roadmap, measurable outcomes, clear decisions, and sustained improvement over multiple years.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own the long-term RCM product strategy, roadmap, operating model, and prioritization across internal workflows, and external platforms and integrations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of user, customer, operational, and payer needs across the revenue lifecycle, from order intake and coverage verification through billing, payment, and collections.
  • Identify, evaluate, and sequence product opportunities using user research, operational data, financial impact, regulatory and payer requirements, implementation risk, and organizational capacity.
  • Translate strategy and discovery into clear product and market requirements, workflow and data-flow definitions, integration requirements, MVP scope, roadmap decisions, and measurable success criteria.
  • Partner with Product Owners, Engineering, PMO, RCM Operations, Market Access, Finance, and vendors to deliver workflow, automation, data, and integration capabilities. Maintain visibility to scope, milestones, dependencies, decisions, and risks.
  • Lead launch readiness, adoption, stakeholder communication, and post-launch measurement. Use results to refine the roadmap, address performance gaps, and sustain improvement. Establish and track KPIs such as:
    • Prior authorization effectiveness: obtain rate, approval rate, authorization and medical-necessity denial rates, and turnaround time.
    • Eligibility and coverage accuracy: coverage found rate, self-pay-to-billable conversion, correct-payer-first-time rate, and eligibility denials.
    • Document and clinical completeness: receipt-to-index time, records retrieval time, packets complete at first submission, missing-document holds, and manual chase.
    • Integration reliability: valid authorization attachment, accession match and merge defects, and preventable denials tied to data or identifier breaks.
    • RCM portfolio outcomes: clean-claim readiness, initial denial rate, order-to-bill cycle time, AR days, net collection rate, order-to-collection conversion, manual interventions, and workflow adoption.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Typically requires 6-10 years of product management experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, patient financial experience, or other data-intensive operational workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience defining a multi-year product strategy and leading enterprise workflow and integration products from discovery through launch, adoption, and ongoing measurement.
  • Strong knowledge of the end-to-end healthcare revenue cycle, including eligibility, prior authorization, clinical documentation, claims, denials, reimbursement, patient responsibility, and self-pay collections.
  • Experience with APIs, data flows, and vendor integrations; experience with XiFin, Careviso, Waystar, or similar platforms is preferred.
  • Ability to translate business and user problems into clear market and product requirements, workflows, data contracts, MVP scope, and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, communication, execution, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to make progress through ambiguity and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end ownership, including securing decisions, closing or escalating dependencies, and communicating tradeoffs, risks, and results.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS) or relevant clinical training is a plus.
