About this role

As a Natural Gas Scheduler / Cash Trader on Intersect's Origination and Trading team, you'll manage daily physical next-day and intra-day cash trading alongside underlying pipeline nominations and logistics. In this remote, dual-function role, you'll balance physical positions and partner closely with the broader trading team to optimize pipeline transport capacity, storage, and fuel supply across regional hubs.

You will serve as the commercial and operational execution engine for our natural gas desk, ensuring seamless alignment between trade capture, EBB pipeline schedules, and back-office settlement. Your active management of Operational Flow Orders (OFOs), imbalance cash-outs, and market inefficiencies will directly protect portfolio margins and drive long-run value.

This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition by managing complex power and fuel portfolios with commercial rigor. The Origination and Trading team acts as the central engine for risk management, physical asset optimization, and market execution across power and thermal markets. Joining this team means shaping resilient commercial strategies, managing daily physical exposure, and driving long-term value in a dynamic, high-growth environment.

What you'll do

• Execute Physical Cash Trading and Position Management
  • Trade daily next-day and intra-day physical natural gas across regional hubs to meet portfolio supply/demand obligations and capture market inefficiencies.
  • Manage portfolio long/short positions, pipeline capacity releases, and spot purchases to ensure deliverability and cost efficiency.
• Pipeline Nominations and Logistics Operations
  • Submit timely accurate Timely, Evening, Intraday, and ID3 nominations across interstate and intrastate pipeline Electronic Bulletin Boards (EBBs).
  • Monitor pipeline maintenance, Operational Flow Orders (OFOs), and capacity constraints, adjusting flows dynamically to prevent cuts or penalties.
• Drive Portfolio Asset Optimization and Imbalance Control
  • Monetize pipeline transportation capacity, storage injections/withdrawals, and park-and-loan allocations to maximize net portfolio value.
  • Track daily pipeline imbalances, line pack, and cash-out provisions to minimize financial risk and eliminate operational penalties.
• Ensure Systems Integration and Cross-Functional Alignment
  • Capture all trades, transport contracts, and scheduled volumes accurately in the ETRM system in real time.
  • Collaborate with back-office accounting and Market Risk teams to resolve transport invoice discrepancies, commodity bills, perform monthly true-ups, and maintain strict FERC/CFTC/NAESB compliance.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a quantitative field.
• 3+ years of experience in physical natural gas scheduling, with at least 1 year actively executing intra-day/next-day physical gas trades.
• Strong physical natural gas scheduling experience on any pipeline network is required, with deep operational familiarity on NNG and NGPL being a strong plus.
• Operational experience with ETRM platforms, trade capture workflows, pipeline imbalance management, and transport settlement reconciliation.
• Availability to participate in a rotating weekend and evening on-call schedule to manage weekend gas flows, emergency OFO announcements, and pipeline cuts.
• Composure under tight operational deadlines, acute attention to detail, and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.

Total Compensation: $217,500 - $237,000 (total compensation includes base salary + bonus in USD)
