Reporting directly to and under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, Loan Operations, the Sr Mortgage Underwriter’s primary purpose is to assist Mortgage Forward to live out our Vision, “To be the customers’ trusted financial partner“. Responsible for ensuring that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external customers, in alignment with our Standards of Greatness.

The Sr Mortgage Underwriter is also responsible for evaluating and determining the eligibility of loan applications which includes analyzing and verifying loan applications, evaluating risks, and making loan eligibility decisions based on Mortgage Forward’s credit/risk standards. Meets and exceeds customers’ and team customer’s expectations by providing excellent service. Performs all duties with accuracy and in compliance with federal and state laws, rules and regulations, and complies with Mortgage Forward’s policies and procedures.

As a Sr. Mortgage Underwriter your duties will:

• Make a determination to approve or deny client’s mortgage loans according to relevant information being provided at their loan applications.
• May be assigned more complicated loan files and deals.
• Verifies employment along with income information, provide reviews on credit history and compute the borrower’s assets and collaterals.
• Ensures that the specifications of properties and terms of loans meet Mortgage Forward’s requirements and state and government regulations.
• Counsel customers or Mortgage Loan Originators (MLOs) regarding loan eligibility, lending criteria and denial reasons.
• Document the relevant reasons for the approval or disapproval of loans and add the following documentation into its loan file.
• Maintain and demonstrate proficiency with loan software applications (MERS, eOrignator, etc.) and remain current with our Lender/Investor programs and maintain their forms for submission.
• Provide support for other Mortgage Underwriters and may be assigned to training newly hired or promoted Underwriters.
• Participate in projects as assigned by the Sr Manager, Loan Operations.
• Responsible for maintaining compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and following all of Mortgage Forward’s policies, procedures and internal controls.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements needed to be part of this team:

• Minimum of five years of similar or related experience
• A two year college degree or completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or completion of specialized training courses, or job specific skills acquired though an apprenticeship program.
