In addition to the base salary above, Coalition CBA 41.31 King County Premium Pay - Employees assigned to a permanent duty station in King County will receive 5% Premium Pay calculated from their base salary. When an employee is no longer permanently assigned to a King County duty station, they will not be eligible for this premium pay.

This position:
- Supervises Electrical Inspectors and Leads who inspect all types of electrical installations to ensure compliance with state electrical laws and rules.
- Evaluates employee performance, develops and implements training plans, and provides mentoring and coaching for assigned staff.
- Interviews and recommends prospective staff to hire.
- Is responsible to ensure that assigned staff achieve their regional performance goals.
- Assists Electrical Inspectors/Leads in conducting unusual, complicated, and/or highly technical electrical installation inspections.
- Conducts inspections of all types of electrical installations to ensure compliance with 19.28 Revised Code of Washington (RCW), 296-46B Washington Administrative Code (WAC), the National Electrical Code (NEC), and construction industry standard for electrical installations.
- Performs electrical permitting, contractor licensing, and electrician certification compliance activities in accordance with these same laws and codes.
This position contributes to L&I’s mission by: Helping to ensure that Washington state is an electrically safe place for consumers and workers to live and work. Working collaboratively leading, coordinating and directing statewide electrical activities that promote uniform, high quality, electrical installations. Helping to reduce the negative effects of the underground economy on Washington businesses and electricians. Providing quality customer experience by respecting our customers and assisting them in complying with applicable laws using fairness, education, and communication.
Duties
Some of what you’ll do:
- Responsible for the administration, planning, supervision, integrity, and quality of regional electrical activities to ensure the uniform application of and minimum adherence to applicable adopted laws, rules, codes, and regulations to ensure public safety.
- Updates and ensures the accuracy of position description forms, recruits, interviews, and makes recommendations to the appointing authority for Electrical Inspector and Lead positions.
- Supervises assigned Electrical Inspectors and Lead(s) who inspect all types of electrical installations and ensures compliance with state electrical laws and rules.
- Conducts accompanied inspections with each inspector/lead at least once per year.
- Conducts mid-year progress reviews and evaluates and documents employee performance in the Performance Planning and Appraisal Form (PPAF).
- Responds to and resolves regional problems, issues, and complaints from staff, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conducts reviews of electrical inspections to evaluate the quality of inspectors’ work.
- Reviews non-compliance referrals received from customers or internal staff and assigns investigation to an inspector/lead.

Qualifications
Requires completion of the Electrical Construction Inspector 1 requirements and successful completion of the required in-training program and one year as an Electrical Construction Inspector 4. OR Requires completion of the Electrical Construction Inspector 1 requirements and successful completion of the required in-training program and two years as an Electrical Construction Inspector 3. OR Requires completion of the Electrical Construction Inspector 1 requirements and successful completion of the required in-training program and three years as an Electrical Construction Inspector 2.
In addition: The ability to take action to learn and grow. The ability to take action to meet the needs of others. Demonstration of L&I Core Capabilities. As well as: Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license to travel to inspection sites.
Desired: Possession of a valid WA State General Administrator {AD01) certificate or a valid Master General Journey Level (ME01) electrician certificate. Demonstrated experience in a cross-section of electrical work in the electrical construction industry. Demonstrated success in leading or supervising assigned staff or projects.
