Field Engineer - Transit Technology

Want to work on technology that keeps public transit moving? At GMV, you’ll join a close-knit U.S. team developing and deploying Intelligent Transit Systems used by transit agencies nationwide, with the support of a global technology group.

WHAT CHALLENGE WILL YOU BE TAKING ON?

As a Field Engineer, you will take engineering ownership of customer deployments from preparation through installation and validation, working with complex onboard systems including touchscreens, passenger counters, routers and other transit technology. You will work closely with customers and multidisciplinary teams including Project Management, Procurement & Production, Field Services, Software Engineering and Product. With significant autonomy, you will be responsible for solving technical challenges and ensuring systems are successfully deployed and operational.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Taking engineering ownership of deployments and providing high-quality technical service throughout the project lifecycle.
• Defining project scope, preparing work packages and testing equipment before installations.
• Conducting onsite vehicle surveys and coordinating technical approvals and installation activities.
• Managing installation teams and third-party subcontractors during field deployments.
• Installing and supporting complex onboard hardware systems and ensuring components are correctly integrated and operational.
• Performing quality assurance and validating completed installations against project requirements.
• Coordinating with external vendors to troubleshoot components and identify engineering solutions.
• Completing post-installation documentation, reports and material returns, and contributing to improvements in standard operating procedures.
• Supporting continuous improvement by redesigning system components, optimizing wiring and collaborating on system integration activities.

This is a highly field-oriented position. Our customers operate transit systems at more than 50 locations nationwide, so approximately 50% travel is required.

WHAT DO WE NEED IN OUR TEAM?

We are looking for an engineer with at least 2–3 years of relevant experience who combines hands-on technical skills with the ability to coordinate projects, communicate effectively and take ownership of customer deployments. For this position, you will need:

• Understanding of low-voltage systems and hands-on experience using tools to test and troubleshoot basic electrical systems on transit vehicles.
• Experience owning end-to-end projects involving the deployment of technical systems.
• Experience coordinating installation teams, including third-party subcontractors.
• Ability to prepare, understand and explain project deliverables, including Statements/Scopes of Work.
• Strong technical communication skills and experience working directly with customers, internal teams and external vendors.
• Ability to perform basic IT activities such as network and router configuration; training will be provided.
• A background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience with 2D CAD will also be valued.
