Electronics engineer

Altamira is a software development outsourcing company. We provide solutions that make a tangible impact on our client’s growth and productivity. With domain knowledge across product and technology development, we aim to provide cost-efficient solutions without compromising quality. We are driven to deliver the best, every single time.

Altamira service delivery teams currently span Slovakia, Ukraine, and the Middle East, and we have ambitions to expand our footprint to meet the growing demand across Europe and into our primary growth markets in the UK and the US. In terms of industry verticals, we are focused on EdTech, Fintech, eCommerce, and Pharma.

Altamira Robotics is looking for an experienced electronics engineer to work on CAMMera, a project developing maritime surveillance and detection systems in support of NATO, the Black Sea, and Ukraine’s security.

The system combines sensors, computing modules, communications, and power subsystems designed for demanding marine conditions. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with solid practical experience who can independently understand unfamiliar equipment, diagnose faults, propose solutions, and make them work reliably.

Your responsibilities

• Develop, assemble, configure, and integrate CAMMera’s electronic and electromechanical subsystems.
• Connect and integrate sensors, computing modules, communications equipment and control systems.
• Work on power systems, including batteries, voltage converters, load distribution, protection and power consumption monitoring.
• Build and test cable assemblies, connections and equipment installations.
• Diagnose faults, take measurements and resolve issues involving power, signals and component interfaces.
• Prepare equipment for moisture, salt exposure, temperature changes and vibration.
• Participate in laboratory, field and sea trials, and improve the system based on test results.
• Maintain wiring diagrams, component specifications, assembly instructions and test records.
• Collaborate with software developers, mechanical designers and other engineers.

What we are looking for

• Substantial hands-on experience developing, integrating, commissioning or repairing electronic equipment.
• A solid understanding of analogue and digital electronics, circuit diagrams and power system design.
• Ability to read schematics and technical documentation, select components and verify compatibility.
• Confident use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, laboratory power supplies and soldering equipment.
• Practical skills in soldering, assembly, connector crimping and troubleshooting.
• Experience with equipment interfaces and protocols such as UART, RS-232/485, CAN, Ethernet, I²C or SPI.
• Independence and ownership: the ability to take a technical problem through to a tested solution.
• Willingness to work hands-on, travel and participate in field and sea trials.
• A relevant technical degree or equivalent practical experience.

An advantage

• Experience with marine, industrial, robotics or defence equipment.
• Experience with microcontrollers, single-board computers and embedded Linux.
• Integration of optical, thermal imaging, acoustic or other sensors.
• Knowledge of networking, cellular and satellite communications.
• Experience with electromagnetic compatibility, sealing and environmental protection of electronics.
• Technical English for documentation and communication with suppliers.

What we offer

• Work on a real engineering project supporting NATO and Ukraine’s defence capabilities.
• Involvement throughout the development cycle, from component selection and prototype assembly to sea trials.
• The opportunity to influence technical decisions and take responsibility for individual subsystems.
• Collaboration with specialists in electronics, sensor systems, software and machine learning.
• Working terms and compensation discussed individually, based on experience and responsibilities.

How to apply

Send your CV and briefly describe 2–3 projects in which you personally developed, assembled, or commissioned equipment. Explain your role, the most challenging technical problem, and how you solved it.

We respect your time and keep our process clear and human. From the first “hello” to the offer usually takes up to 2 weeks:

• A short recruiting call (30 min)
• A technical conversation with our experts (1 hour)
• Client interview (if needed, up to 1 hour)
• Reference check
• Offer and welcome on board

* Please note that the process may occasionally vary depending on the role or specific project needs.
