Overview

Please note that this position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid. Nisga’a CIOPS delivers cleared professionals to support civilian and DoD customers worldwide across intelligence support, cyber/defensive cyber operations, IT O&M, infrastructure modernization, training, and logistics.

Summary:

This position is responsible for managing the development, review, and maintenance of electrical and electronic engineering standards, guidelines, and design criteria used in the planning, design, construction, and operation of the Federal Bureau of Prisons correctional institutions. The Electrical Engineer provides technical review and approval of electrical engineering standards and designs. The position requires an active Professional Engineer license and extensive experience in electrical systems, construction, facility design, and federal contracting.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

The successful candidate must possess:

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering principles and practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of building and site electrical systems, communication systems, security systems, and related electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of related architectural and engineering disciplines, including structural, mechanical, and civil engineering.
  • Extensive experience with construction methods, materials, installation techniques, and building systems.
  • Knowledge of the design and construction of correctional institutions, detention facilities, or similarly complex institutional facilities.
  • Ability to provide expert technical guidance and make independent engineering decisions.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, architectural and engineering plans, technical specifications, project schedules, and construction cost estimates.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, electrical codes, fire codes, and life-safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of federal regulations, budgeting requirements, procurement procedures, and contracting practices.
  • Familiarity with correctional facility operations and American Correctional Association standards.
  • Ability to prepare technical drawings, specifications, analyses, reports, and recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and conduct meetings, conferences, technical discussions, and contract negotiations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency with computers and software used for word processing, project management, scheduling, technical documentation, and spreadsheet development and analysis.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess a current and active Professional Engineer license. Ability to pass an extensive FBOP background check. Must have either an RA or PE certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Pay and Benefits
