Director, critical infrastructure technical program management

About the Role

We are looking for a Director, Critical Infrastructure Technical Program Management (TPM) to lead the end-to-end execution of complex infrastructure programs — including data center builds, hardware fleet scaling, cloud/hybrid migrations, and enterprise network transformations. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and deep technical execution, translating ambiguous, high-stakes initiatives into structured programs with clear ownership, measurable milestones, and airtight risk management. This is a high-visibility role for someone who is equally comfortable reading a network topology diagram, negotiating a vendor SOW, and briefing senior leadership on program health.

Key Responsibilities

• Program Execution Own the integrated master schedule and roadmap for data center transformations, cloud/hybrid migrations, and hardware deployments from initiation through go-live, and beyond, if applicable. Translate business and technical requirements into structured work breakdown structures, milestones, resourcing plans and clearly communicate it all to project team members. Drive programs across multiple engineering teams and vendors, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery without compromising quality or security.
• Risk & Dependency Management Proactively identify technical roadblocks, cross-team dependencies, resource constraints, and security gaps before they become blockers. Create, build, and maintain risk registers with clear owners, mitigation plans, and escalation paths. Run structured risk reviews and drive decisions to closure rather than letting issues linger.
• Stakeholder Alignment Serve as the primary liaison between all stakeholders, including executive leadership. Translate technical complexity into business-relevant updates for non-technical stakeholders and translate business priorities into technical direction for engineering teams. Facilitate and lead program reviews, steering committee updates, and executive briefings.
• Operational Readiness Define and track Service-Level Objectives (SLOs) and key operational metrics for infrastructure programs and Day 2 operations. Maintain and continuously improve incident-response playbooks and operational runbooks, as applicable. Ensure program deliverables meet applicable regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, as applicable to the environment).
• Process Improvement Evaluate architectural and operational decisions for scalability, resiliency, and cost efficiency. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across hardware, compute, storage, and network systems. Establish repeatable frameworks, templates, and playbooks to improve delivery velocity across future programs.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related STEM field (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree).
• 7+ years of experience in technical program management, infrastructure engineering, or network operations, with direct exposure to hardware infrastructure, data centers, or large-scale network environments.
• Strong working knowledge of enterprise IT domains: servers, compute, storage systems, networking (LAN/WAN), and hardware telemetry/monitoring.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent, high-complexity programs with competing priorities and hard deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to executive stakeholders.
• Proven track record of identifying and mitigating technical and operational risk in live production environments.

• Preferred Active PMP, CCNP, or relevant security certification (e.g., CISSP, Security+).
• Experience with cloud and hybrid infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) alongside on-premises data center environments.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST.
• Experience supporting federal, DoD, or Intelligence Community environments.
• Background in vendor and contract management for large capital infrastructure projects.

Work Environment & Travel

May require periodic travel to data center sites for program milestones, audits, or go-lives (estimate: 10%). On-call participation may be required during critical deployment windows or major incidents.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this role is $135,000.00 to 165,000.00 USD.
