Job Type: Full-Time | Location: Texas | Department: Data Center Delivery | Reporting to: SVP, Data Center Delivery | Work Location Type: #remote
IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC.
The Director, Cost Management is a strategic financial and operational leader responsible for safeguarding the financial health and capital efficiency of IREN’s entire data center portfolio. This role owns end-to-end financial governance – from initial project estimation and quantitative risk analysis through to vendor billing control and change order management – across our West Texas and Oklahoma campuses and the wider development pipeline.
With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.
Manage and track comprehensive project budgets and integrated project costs across all data center initiatives, ensuring precise financial forecasting and variance reporting.
Stand up robust, standardized project estimation frameworks for greenfield and brownfield builds, providing accurate baseline costs from early conceptual design through to final closeout.
Perform sophisticated quantitative cost risk analyses, including Monte Carlo simulation and contingency modeling, to establish realistic project reserves and buffer against market volatility.
Oversee all vendor and contractor billing cycles, ensuring strict alignment against approved contract values, milestone progress and budget thresholds.
Establish and lead a rigorous review, tracking and approval process for all project change orders to mitigate scope creep and control cost escalation.
Define and institutionalize enterprise-wide cost management standards, governance frameworks and best practices to ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
Hire, mentor and scale a high-performing cost management team distributed across multiple regions, establishing a unified culture of financial accountability.
Partner with Finance and FP&A on capex phasing, cash flow forecasting and earned value reporting, and present cost health, contingency drawdown and capital efficiency metrics to executive leadership and the Board.
Support Procurement and Supply Chain on contracting strategy, pricing and commercial terms for long-lead equipment such as transformers, switchgear, generators and cooling plant.
Build and maintain unit-cost benchmarks across the portfolio, including cost per MW and cost per kW of critical load, and use them to drive value engineering and challenge estimates.
Own the cost management toolset and its integration with ERP and project management platforms, ensuring a single, auditable source of truth for project cost.
At IREN, we offer a highly competitive compensation package that includes base salary, annual performance incentives, and opportunities to build long-term wealth through equity programs. These offerings are part of our broader total rewards package, thoughtfully designed to support your health, well-being, and long-term success.
We value diverse perspectives and believe that skills can be developed. If you’re passionate about this role, we want to hear from you — whether you meet every criteria or not. Your unique experiences might be exactly what we need!
