Job Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cost Report Analyst Senior based in the United States.

This role is responsible for managing complex healthcare reimbursement and cost reporting activities across a large health system. You’ll independently oversee Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare cost reports while supporting state-level healthcare reporting requirements. The position plays a key role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely reimbursement processes. You’ll coordinate audits and reviews, respond to regulatory data requests, and serve as a liaison with external reimbursement organizations. The role also involves leading peer-review processes, managing provider appeals, and supporting medical education reimbursement activities. You’ll work closely with reimbursement professionals, providers, department leaders, and other stakeholders in a collaborative environment. Accountabilities

  • Independently manage Medicare, Medicaid, and TriCare cost reporting responsibilities, ensuring accurate and timely completion in accordance with applicable requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate annual data requests and supporting documentation required for cost reporting and reimbursement activities.
  • Lead the annual cost report peer-review process, coordinating participants, reviewing information, and ensuring appropriate follow-up.
  • Coordinate and facilitate Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) audits and desk reviews, including organizing documentation and managing communications.
  • Respond to MAC data requests and act as a key liaison between external reviewers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate Medicaid cost reports, Disproportionate Share audits, and annual Medical Education Research Costs (MERC) applications.
  • Organize and manage provider appeals, including correspondence, supporting documentation, tracking, regulatory filings, and resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Attend designated reimbursement, provider, department, and leadership meetings to communicate relevant reporting, audit, and reimbursement matters.
  • Maintain accurate financial and regulatory documentation while ensuring work complies with applicable reimbursement requirements and organizational procedures.
  • Perform additional reimbursement, cost reporting, and analytical duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a related field.
  • 3–7 years of applicable Medicare reimbursement experience, ideally gained within a Medicare Administrative Contractor, public accounting healthcare practice, healthcare provider organization, or consulting environment.
  • 2–7 years of experience using Microsoft Office and financial systems or related software applications.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement processes, Medicare cost reporting, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage detailed financial and regulatory assignments from preparation through completion.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills, with exceptional attention to accuracy and deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with internal stakeholders, external auditors, reimbursement organizations, providers, and leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to clearly document findings, requests, and responses.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, resolve issues, and work independently with sound judgment.
  • Comfortable working in a primarily remote environment while residing within commuting distance of the designated Minneapolis, Minnesota office.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work, including extended periods at a desk and occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.

Benefits

Salary: $40.08–$54.93 per hour, with starting pay determined by experience, education, and applicable employment or union considerations.

Remote work: Remote position with the requirement to reside within commuting distance of the Minneapolis, Minnesota office.

Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week with an 8-hour daytime schedule and no weekend rotation.
