This remote role supports high-quality communications for a complex federal healthcare program focused on patient safety and compliance. You will combine technical editing, strategic communication, and stakeholder coordination to ensure information is accurate, accessible, and consistent. The position serves as a key connection point between internal project teams and external communications stakeholders. You will help prepare materials for committees, boards, leadership audiences, and the public while navigating federal communication standards. Your work will contribute to transparent communication around healthcare policies, compliance activities, and program initiatives. The environment is collaborative and detail-driven, requiring strong judgment, organization, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through clear, compliant, and audience-focused communication within a mission-oriented federal healthcare setting.

Accountabilities

  • Perform technical editing, copyediting, and proofreading of contract deliverables, including plans, SOPs, reports, meeting summaries, training materials, presentations, and related documentation.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology, tone, formatting, style, clarity, and logical flow across written and visual materials.
  • Apply federal Plain Language Guidelines, applicable branding standards, and program requirements to communications and deliverables.
  • Work with technical leads and subject matter experts to resolve ambiguities, strengthen key messages, and preserve technical accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain editorial standards, templates, checklists, and communication workflows.
  • Review and refine slide decks, briefing documents, talking points, and other materials for committees, boards, and workgroups.
  • Ensure meeting materials clearly communicate objectives, decisions required, and relevant background information to clinical, technical, leadership, and public audiences.
  • Review materials for accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, redaction, and appropriate handling of sensitive information.
  • Draft, edit, and format public-facing content such as website materials, fact sheets, summaries, meeting updates, and policy communications.
  • Support the preparation of de-identified public materials and ensure communications meet applicable accessibility, branding, and federal requirements.
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day communications liaison between project teams and external federal healthcare communications stakeholders.
  • Coordinate review and approval processes, track communications requests, maintain approval records, and ensure timely responses.
  • Collaborate with project managers, analysts, committee operations staff, and subject matter experts to align communications with project objectives and timelines.
  • Support the creation of accessible charts, tables, graphics, and documents, including materials aligned with Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending enhancements to templates, workflows, review processes, and communication practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Health, Public Policy, Health Administration, Journalism, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in technical editing, communications, or a comparable role supporting complex programs or projects.
  • Experience supporting federal agencies, healthcare, public health, regulatory, or compliance environments is strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting leadership, committee, or board-level communications is an advantage.
  • Strong technical editing and writing abilities, with the capacity to simplify complex content without compromising accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical, regulatory, and policy concepts into clear and accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including grammar, formatting, consistency, accuracy, and identification of content gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Familiarity with federal plain-language requirements, branding guidelines, and restrictions related to lobbying and commercial advertising, or the ability to quickly learn these standards.
  • Strong stakeholder coordination skills and experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including technical experts, clinicians, policy professionals, and communications teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive editorial feedback and clarify complex topics with subject matter experts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as collaboration platforms such as SharePoint and Teams and virtual meeting tools.
  • Experience creating accessible documents in accordance with Section 508 requirements is preferred.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; U.S. citizenship is not required.
  • No security clearance or public trust clearance is required.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work arrangement with a full-flex work week where applicable.
  • Competitive salary range of approximately $93,662–$97,750, depending on experience, geographic location, and contractual considerations.
  • Comprehensive medical plan options, including plans with Health Savings Accounts.
  • Dental and vision insurance options.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company matching and pre-tax/post-tax contribution options.
  • Paid time off, including vacation, sick, personal, and company holidays.
