Job Description

SUMMARY OF ROLE

This position serves as a strategic advisor and a trusted, empowered extension of the Global Vice President and Director of Foursquare Missions International (FMI), helping to drive initiatives on his behalf and turn vision into execution across Global Mission. As a thought partner and integrator (influence not authority), the Chief of Staff supports the Global VP in both of his roles — FMI Director and Co-Chair of the Foursquare Global Council — connecting the FMI leadership team, Global Council and One Team leaders around shared priorities; leading key reporting, communication and planning rhythms; and working to solve the cross-functional problems that have no clear owner or plan.

If interested, please apply by Wednesday, November 25th.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as strategic advisor and thought partner to the Global VP / FMI Director; act as a trusted, empowered extension of his leadership to move priorities from vision to execution.
  • Plan and direct the administrative and operational priorities of the Office of the Global VP; prioritize critical issues and prepare the information needed for efficient decision-making.
  • Act as the liaison for the Global VP with FMI staff, Global Associate Directors (GADs), missionary personnel, national leaders, and One Team leaders to ensure consistent communication and engagement.
  • Serve as the connective tissue among the Global VP’s direct reports and FMI teams (GADs, Worker Recruiting, Training Development and Care, and Fundraising), building the rhythms, shared priorities and collaboration that help them work together as one team.
  • Partner with the Global VP to champion and integrate four-stage missiology across FMI and the global church — building the systems, tools and training that align field efforts while staying integrated with One Team-wide and U.S. four-stage efforts.
  • Support the Global VP’s work as Co-Chair of the Foursquare Global Council, including agenda and meeting preparation, follow-through on decisions, and coordination with national leaders.
  • Take ownership of complex, cross-functional issues, including those concerning international churches or missionaries: convene the right people, clarify the problem, drive toward resolution and bring forward recommendations when a decision is needed.
  • Prepare ongoing Board reports for the Global VP — including global mission updates and missionary worker appointment recommendations — gathering information, providing framing and context, and developing talking points.
  • Lead annual calendar planning for Global Mission, FMI and the Global Council to integrate and coordinate with overall One Team calendar planning.
  • Develop communications, presentations and messaging on behalf of the Global VP that are clear, consistent and well-framed, including reporting and celebrating four-stage wheel spinning around the world.
  • Collaborate with the senior leadership across the organization to integrate work, share information and maintain momentum on organizational priorities.
  • Travel as needed for meetings and events, including international travel.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • Demonstrates humility and a growth mindset with an attitude of servant-leadership, placing serving over being served and collaboration over individualization.
  • A commitment to The Foursquare “one-team” growth culture.
  • Record of active commitment and service to The Foursquare Church.
  • 15+ years of proven ministry, leadership and organizational experience.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent level of experience, training and education.
  • Knowledge of and experience in global missions; understanding of four-stage missiology.
  • Strong systems thinker with demonstrated ability to design, build and implement processes that turn vision into effective execution.
  • Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex information and develop innovative, practical solutions.
  • Ability to be a strategic problem solver; solutions-oriented; results-driven.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) including executive presentation and report-writing skills.
  • Experience preparing materials for and working with a board of directors and senior leadership.
  • Ability to lead through influence and collaboration across teams without direct authority.
  • High level of professionalism and spiritual maturity, with the ability to partner in sensitive matters and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent planning, organizing and project management skills with ability to anticipate needs; attention to detail.
  • Strong experience interacting effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Self-aware, high emotional intelligence; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual: ability to speak, listen, read, and write fluently in Spanish is preferred.
  • Agile and the ability to lead and work effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required to meet accountabilities; valid passport.
  • Experienced with using Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel), including collaboration applications (Teams, etc.).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity of fingers, hands and wrists; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the phone; have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds.
