Job Description

Moving Space Forward

Rocketdyne is back — and we're just getting started. We are unleashing decades of unrivaled flight heritage to power the most critical missions in space today, from the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope to an MMRTG journeying to Saturn's largest moon. National security space is shifting to proliferated constellations, creating compounding demand for exactly what we build. If you want to do the most important work of your career at a company where One, Trust, and Bold are a way of life, Rocketdyne is your place.

The Role

The Chief of Staff serves as a trusted partner to the CEO, driving enterprise priorities and coordinated action across the leadership team. This is a highly visible, fast-paced role requiring exceptional business acumen, executive presence, and the ability to influence without authority. The ideal candidate thrives in high-growth environments and is motivated by solving problems, driving accountability, and helping senior leaders operate at their best.

This role is remote, preferably in the Eastern or Central time zone, with 50%+ travel across multiple sites — sometimes with limited notice. Proximity to a major airport is essential.

Success in this role looks like:

  • Improved executive team alignment and decision velocity
  • Effective execution of CEO and enterprise priorities
  • Strong follow-through on strategic initiatives and action items
  • High-quality executive communications and leadership meeting effectiveness
  • Demonstrated transparency, accountability, and cross-functional coordination

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare the CEO for every significant meeting — digest pre-reads, surface the questions that matter, draft position, and identify required decisions
  • Maintain a single authoritative action register of commitments made to and by the CEO, chasing each to closure and escalating only when genuinely at risk
  • Own logistics of board and sponsor deliverables: calendar, deadlines, package assembly, distribution, and follow-up
  • Partner with the Executive Assistant to manage the CEO's calendar end to end, including prioritization, protection of thinking time, and travel alignment
  • Translate executive direction into actionable plans, milestones, and accountability mechanisms — monitoring progress and elevating risks and decision points
  • Serve as central coordination point for the executive leadership team: agendas, materials, follow-up actions, and accountability across operating reviews and leadership offsites
  • Draft correspondence on the CEO's behalf to customers, AE Industrial Partners, L3Harris counterparts, and employees
  • Manage logistics and confidentiality for executive hiring, compensation, and succession discussions

Why This Role Matters

Rocketdyne is in a defining moment — a newly independent company with an iconic brand, a rapidly expanding market, and a leadership team moving with urgency and purpose. The Chief of Staff is the connective tissue that keeps it all moving. This role sits at the intersection of every major decision, initiative, and relationship that matters to the CEO and the enterprise. It demands someone who embodies One — connecting the organization across sites and functions — who leads with Trust — handling sensitive information and senior relationships with discretion and integrity — and who is truly Bold — willing to hold leaders accountable, challenge assumptions, and drive outcomes that matter.

Basic Qualifications

  • Proven experience supporting a senior executive, general officer, or equivalent principal in a role combining administrative ownership with substantive follow-through and accountability
  • U.S. Person status with eligibility for a security clearance, required given ITAR obligations and site footprint
  • Proximity to a major airport with ability to travel 50%+

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing without direct authority
  • Experience drafting executive-level communications, presentations, and briefing materials to go out under a principal's name
  • Proven discretion handling sensitive information — compensation, headcount, M&A, or board-level matters
  • Strong executive presence with familiarity with executive operating rhythms, strategic planning, and enterprise governance
  • Willingness and demonstrated capability to hold senior leaders accountable to commitments on the CEO's behalf
  • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, or a private-equity-owned business
  • Familiarity with a carve-out, separation, or post-transaction stand-up environment
