Job Description

Job Description

Our client's an emerging metals technology company developing a novel approach to copper extraction. The business is moving toward commercialization and entering a critical development stage, including a Series B financing. This isn’t a traditional accounting CFO mandate. A strong Controller is in place to own the day-to-day finance function. The need is for a strategic, externally focused CFO who can raise capital, engage sophisticated investors and help shape the company’s next chapter.

The Role:

Own the financial and capital strategy as the company moves through Series B, commercialization and future growth. Part CFO. Part capital markets leader. Part Corp Dev. This person will work closely with the CEO and Board, becoming a key face of the company with investors, financing partners and strategic stakeholders.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Series B financing process, from investor strategy and positioning through diligence, negotiation and close.
  • Build and communicate a compelling financial and investment case to institutional and strategic investors.
  • Own financial planning, modelling, valuation, capital structure and longer-term financing strategy.
  • Work directly with the CEO, Board, investors, advisors, legal counsel and financing partners.
  • Navigate the U.S. regulatory and securities environment as the company raises capital and builds toward its next stage.
  • Support strategic partnerships, JVs, M&A and other Corp Dev opportunities.
  • Help position the company for future institutional financings and potential public-market/IPO readiness.
  • Provide strategic oversight of finance while an established Controller manages accounting, reporting, controls and day-to-day execution.

What You'll Bring:

  • CPA designation. Non-negotiable.
  • Proven institutional capital-raising exp., ideally including Series B/C or comparable growth financing.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. securities regulation and capital markets.
  • Demonstrated investor, Board and transaction-facing exp.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and capital-structure capability.
  • Mining/metals exp. strongly preferred; mining tech, critical minerals or other capital-intensive industrial technology backgrounds also relevant.
  • IPO/public-company financing exp. highly desirable.
  • Corp Dev, M&A, JV and strategic partnership exp. considered a strong asset.
  • Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where the opportunity is significant, the pace is high and not everything comes with an established playbook.

What’s In It For You:

Join at a genuine inflection point, with a Series B raise and commercialization ahead. Own the capital strategy, not just the finance function. Work directly with the CEO, Board and investors on financing, valuation, partnerships and longer-term growth. Help shape the path toward larger institutional financings and potentially the public markets. Apply mining, finance and capital-markets exp. to an emerging technology focused on unlocking more value from copper resources. Take on a CFO mandate where your ability to raise capital, structure deals and influence strategy will matter far more than running the accounting department. Build meaningful enterprise value and have a visible impact on where the company goes next.

The Plutonic Take:

This isn’t a "Controller-plus" CFO role. It’s an opportunity for a CPA who lives comfortably at the intersection of capital raising, U.S. capital markets and Corp Dev. The right person could be a sitting CFO, but doesn’t need to be. An accomplished VP/SVP Finance, Corp Dev or Capital Markets leader could be equally compelling if they’ve personally raised institutional capital, understand the U.S. regulatory landscape, have credibility with investors and are ready to own the CFO seat. Bottom line: they’re looking for someone who can help finance the next stage of the company, not simply account for it.
