B2b copywriter & messaging strategist

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced B2B Copywriter & Messaging Strategist to develop strategic messaging and high-quality copy for our clients, with a strong focus on B2B technology companies and website projects. This role combines copywriting with strategic positioning and messaging. You will be responsible for understanding complex businesses, products, and audiences and translating them into clear, compelling messaging that differentiates the brand and drives action.

A significant portion of this role will involve writing copy for B2B websites, including companies in technology, SaaS, cybersecurity, AI, healthcare, and other complex industries. This is not just a content writing role. You should be comfortable developing the strategy behind the messaging, not simply writing from an existing brief or messaging framework.

What You’ll Do

• Write website copy for B2B companies, including homepages, product and service pages, industry pages, solution pages, landing pages, and other website content
• Develop brand positioning and strategic messaging frameworks
• Create value propositions, messaging pillars, differentiators, key messages, and audience-specific messaging
• Translate complex technical products and services into clear, compelling, benefit-driven copy
• Participate in client discovery and stakeholder interviews to understand the business, audience, competitive landscape, and objectives
• Conduct competitive and messaging research to identify opportunities for differentiation
• Develop messaging for different buyer personas and stages of the buying journey
• Write headlines, calls to action, and conversion-focused website copy
• Collaborate with strategists, designers, developers, SEO specialists, and other members of our team
• Incorporate SEO strategy and target keywords naturally into website copy when appropriate
• Edit and strengthen existing copy for clarity, consistency, differentiation, and brand voice
• Ensure all copy is polished, accurate, on-brand, and ready for client delivery

Who We’re Looking For

• B2B Copywriting Experience
• 5+ years of professional copywriting, content, or messaging experience
• Demonstrated experience writing website copy for B2B companies
• Strong preference for experience with technology, SaaS, cybersecurity, AI, healthcare, professional services, or other complex industries
• Ability to translate sophisticated or technical subject matter into clear, engaging copy
• Strong understanding of how B2B messaging differs from consumer-focused copy
• Website Copywriting Experience
• Demonstrated experience writing complete, multi-page B2B websites
• Strong understanding of website hierarchy, user journeys, calls to action, and conversion
• Ability to develop consistent messaging across an entire website
• Experience collaborating with designers, strategists, SEO specialists, and developers
• Positioning & Messaging Experience
• Hands-on experience developing brand positioning and strategic messaging
• Experience developing value propositions, messaging pillars, differentiators, audience messaging, and brand narratives
• Ability to identify what meaningfully differentiates a company from its competitors
• Comfortable conducting client discovery and turning research into a clear messaging framework

• You don't simply take a brief and start writing. You ask questions, understand the audience and business objectives, identify messaging gaps, and think strategically about what the company needs to communicate and why.

• You have an exceptional command of grammar, structure, tone, and storytelling and can recognize when messaging is generic, overly technical, or unclear.

• You are comfortable participating in client discovery calls, asking thoughtful questions, presenting messaging recommendations, and incorporating feedback.
• Collaborative & Detail-Oriented
• You work effectively with remote teams, communicate proactively, manage deadlines, and consistently deliver polished work that is ready for client review.

• You understand how to use AI tools appropriately for research, ideation, and efficiency while maintaining original thinking, strategic judgment, and high-quality human-written copy.

Compensation

Hourly or project-based compensation, depending on experience and scope. We are committed to fair compensation based on your skill level and the value you bring. This is a contractor role with the potential to evolve into a longer-term or full-time opportunity based on performance and business needs.
