Assistant recruitment manager

Lead global technical recruitment for an ambitious, AI-focused technology company developing intelligent applications that simplify everyday tasks and workflows. In this role, you will shape the hiring strategy needed to build and scale high-performing engineering and AI teams. You will oversee recruitment across AI/ML, software engineering, infrastructure, web, mobile, and technical leadership while remaining hands-on with critical and senior-level searches. Working directly with company and engineering leaders, you will define hiring standards, strengthen assessment processes, and ensure recruitment decisions prioritize genuine technical expertise. You will also build and coach a high-performing recruiting team, using data and market insights to improve hiring outcomes. Accountabilities:

You will own the global technical recruiting function, combining strategic leadership with hands-on execution to attract exceptional engineering and AI talent. Your focus will be on building scalable recruitment capabilities while maintaining high standards for candidate quality, speed, and hiring effectiveness.

• Lead technical recruitment across AI/ML, backend engineering, infrastructure, web and mobile development, and engineering leadership.
• Develop the technical recruiting strategy, team structure, hiring priorities, and operating processes required to achieve company growth objectives.
• Personally manage critical and senior-level searches, including market mapping, proactive headhunting, candidate assessment, offer negotiation, and closing.
• Establish clear standards for evaluating technical candidates, emphasizing demonstrated contributions, problem-solving ability, technical complexity, and relevance rather than relying solely on job titles or employer names.
• Partner with founders, engineering leaders, and other senior stakeholders to define hiring requirements, candidate profiles, interview processes, and final hiring decisions.
• Build, manage, and coach a high-performing technical recruiting team, improving sourcing strategies, candidate evaluation, pipeline management, and overall recruiter effectiveness.
• Monitor recruitment metrics and market intelligence to identify bottlenecks, challenge ineffective searches, and improve hiring quality, speed, and conversion rates.
• Develop scalable recruitment processes and talent networks across the United States, Europe, and Asia.
• Maintain a balance between structured recruitment processes and sound professional judgment, ensuring execution and candidate quality remain the priority.
• Take accountability for hiring outcomes and continuously adapt recruitment strategies to meet evolving technical talent needs.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced technical recruiting leader who combines deep knowledge of engineering and AI talent markets with strong people leadership and hands-on sourcing capabilities. You should be comfortable partnering with senior technical stakeholders, making informed talent decisions, and building recruitment functions in fast-growing technology environments.

• Have at least 10 years of recruiting experience, including substantial experience hiring software engineers, AI/ML specialists, or other highly technical professionals.
• Demonstrate a proven track record of building and leading technical recruiting functions within high-growth technology companies while remaining directly involved in critical searches.
• Possess a strong understanding of engineering and AI talent markets and the ability to assess the depth, relevance, and practical impact of candidates' technical experience.
• Have experience recruiting senior engineers, technical leaders, and other hard-to-find talent through proactive sourcing and headhunting.
• Demonstrate success building, managing, and improving the performance of technical recruiting teams.
• Be able to work directly with founders and engineering leadership, challenge assumptions constructively, and translate business priorities into actionable hiring plans.
• Bring strong judgment in talent evaluation, excellent execution speed, and clear accountability for recruitment results.
• Have strong communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

• Experience leading technical recruitment at an AI company, AI-native startup, or high-growth technology business.
• Direct experience recruiting AI researchers, machine learning engineers, applied AI engineers, and senior engineering leaders.
• Established networks across global AI and engineering communities.
• Experience building technical teams across multiple international markets, particularly the United States, Europe, and Asia.
