Job Description

At Siemens, we help organizations transform maintenance and operations through connected insights, AI-powered technology, and intelligent asset management solutions. Our software enables customers to manage the full lifecycle of assets, facilities, and infrastructure while improving efficiency, reducing risk, and optimizing long-term investments. By connecting data, people, and processes, we empower organizations to make smarter decisions, maximize asset performance, and achieve more resilient operations.

Description:

Siemens Asset Management Software provides facility management, asset management, and sustainability software for education, healthcare, government, and commercial customers. Our products include Asset Essentials, TheWorxHub, SmartAssets, and Confirm. The Data & Business Intelligence team operates a cloud data platform using a Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion data warehouse architecture that supports embedded reporting and analytics. The team is now building agentic analytics, where AI agents answer customer questions using governed, tenant-secure data.

In this internship, you'll contribute to production-scale data and AI work on a SaaS platform, receive mentorship from data architects and BI leaders, and gain exposure to how a global software organization approaches AI, governance, and tenant security.

This 10-week Summer Internship will last between May 2027 and August 2027.

Location:

This position is remotely based within the United States. However, to facilitate onboarding and establish key relationships with the team, the successful candidate will be required to attend their first week of employment onsite in Raleigh, NC. Following onboarding, the role will be fully remote.

Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States and will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.

You’ll make an impact by:

  • Build and test agentic analytics workflows that turn natural-language questions into trustworthy answers using work order, asset, inspection, and maintenance data.
  • Develop context-engineering patterns, including semantic views, metric definitions, and curated metadata that give large language models the right context.
  • Support data governance activities such as cataloging, lineage, and data quality checks across the medallion layers.
  • Write and optimize SQL and data pipelines that support analytics and AI use cases.
  • Evaluate agent output for accuracy and consistency, and document findings.
  • Present your work to the team and stakeholders at the end of the internship.

This is how you'll win us over:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. We will consider rising juniors through rising seniors and graduate students.
  • Strong SQL skills and solid data engineering fundamentals, including data modeling, ETL/ELT, and Python.
  • Hands-on experience with large language models, such as prompt design, APIs, or agent frameworks, through coursework, projects, or prior work.
  • Curiosity about how AI agents reason over data and the discipline to test whether their outputs are accurate.

You'll Thrive Even More If You Also Bring:

  • Familiarity with metadata management, data catalogs, or data governance concepts.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake; or BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Experience with semantic layers, retrieval, or evaluating large language model outputs.
  • Aware of multi-tenant data warehouse security concepts such as row-level security.
  • A portfolio, GitHub repository, or project that demonstrates agentic AI or data-related work.

At Siemens, you'll have the opportunity to grow your career while helping organizations operate smarter, safer, and more sustainably. We foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning, where employees are empowered to make a difference every day. If you're excited about solving real-world challenges and shaping the future of asset management, we encourage you to apply.
