Accounts Payable Specialist (Remote) US Based Company Job Description

The Remote Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for managing the company’s full-cycle accounts payable process while working in a virtual environment. This role ensures accurate invoice processing, timely payments, and strong vendor relationships while maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, verify, and process vendor invoices in a timely manner
• Perform 3-way matching of purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
• Accurately code invoices to appropriate general ledger accounts
• Prepare and process ACH, wire transfers, and check payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain organized digital records and documentation
• Respond to vendor and internal payment inquiries
• Assist with month-end close, accruals, and reporting
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures
• Meet productivity and accuracy benchmarks in a remote setting

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 1–3 years of accounts payable or accounting experience
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment preferred
• Reliable internet connection and dedicated home workspace
