Accountant

We are hiring an entry-level Accountant for the Incentives, Benefits & Reconciliation Accounting department at BCBST!

In this role, you will support incentive calculations, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance research. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated, with intermediate Excel skills and the ability to analyze large datasets to identify variances, trends, and opportunities for accuracy.

Accounting or financial experience is a plus, along with exposure to AI-enabled tools.

Note: This role is fully remote, but occasional travel to Chattanooga for attendance at events will be requested. Preference will be given to candidates within a 50-mile radius of Chattanooga. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintaining financial records in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
• Creating reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
• Performing balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Creating and utilizing automated tools for the updating, analyzing and reporting of consolidated financial results.

Job Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience is required. Equivalent work experience would be 4 years of experience in related field.

Skills/Certifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Proficient oral and written communication skills
• Proficient interpersonal and organizational skills
• Capacity to solve problems and manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines
• Strong analytical skills
• Thorough understanding and knowledge of financial and accounting theory
