Job Description

About the Role

We're looking for a highly organized, media-savvy Account Director to lead client relationships and oversee the successful execution of integrated marketing initiatives across our accounts. This role is part client leadership, media strategy, and project management. The ideal candidate knows how to build trusted client partnerships, translate business objectives into actionable plans, and keep cross-functional teams aligned to deliver great work.

The Account Director will serve as a primary point of contact for key clients, overseeing account health, project execution, timelines, budgets, and overall client satisfaction. While this person won't be responsible for hands-on campaign optimization, they should have a strong understanding of paid media, digital marketing, and campaign performance to confidently guide conversations, anticipate challenges, and collaborate with internal specialists.

Ultimately, this person is responsible for ensuring our clients feel supported, our teams are set up for success, and our work consistently delivers against expectations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in account management, client services, or integrated marketing project leadership, preferably within a digital marketing or creative agency.
  • Proven experience managing complex client relationships and multiple accounts simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of digital media, including paid social, paid search, and other performance marketing channels.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, including media buyers, strategists, creatives, and other specialists.
  • Ability to interpret campaign performance data and translate insights into clear, actionable client conversations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence leading client meetings, presentations, and challenging conversations.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate roadblocks, manage expectations, and keep projects moving forward.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including understanding account profitability, scope management, client retention, and opportunities for account growth.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and bringing structure, clarity, and accountability to fast-moving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary strategic and day-to-day relationship lead for assigned accounts. Build strong partnerships with clients, understand their business objectives, manage expectations, and ensure a consistently high level of service and communication.
  • Account & Project Leadership: Oversee the execution of client initiatives from planning through delivery, ensuring projects stay on track, on budget, and aligned with client goals. Establish clear priorities, timelines, responsibilities, and next steps across internal teams.
  • Media & Marketing Oversight: Bring a strong working knowledge of paid media and digital marketing to client and internal conversations. Partner with channel specialists to understand campaign performance, identify opportunities or concerns, and ensure recommendations support the broader client strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with media buyers, strategists, creative teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration and execution. Keep teams aligned on priorities, deliverables, deadlines, and client expectations.
  • Client Communication & Presentations: Lead client meetings, status updates, planning sessions, and performance reviews. Translate complex information into clear, compelling updates and recommendations while ensuring clients understand progress, results, and next steps.
  • Account Health & Retention: Proactively monitor client satisfaction, identify potential risks, and address challenges before they escalate. Take ownership of resolving client concerns and strengthening long-term relationships.
  • Scope, Timeline & Budget Management: Oversee account scopes of work, project timelines, and budgets to ensure resources are allocated effectively and commitments are delivered. Identify scope changes, manage competing priorities, and collaborate with internal leadership to maintain healthy, profitable accounts.
  • Performance Reporting & Insights: Partner with media and analytics teams to develop meaningful client reporting. Ensure performance updates are accurate, relevant, and connected to business objectives, with clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Process & Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities to improve account workflows, communication, and project management practices. Help establish consistent standards that make our teams more efficient and our client experience stronger.
  • Account Growth: Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships through additional services, new initiatives, and strategic recommendations that align with client needs and business goals.
