Job Description

Location: Remote

Reports to: Accounting Manager

Department: Finance & Accounting

As our Senior Financial Reporting and General Ledger Accountant, you'll be a hands-on contributor to Fold's financial reporting program and day-to-day accounting operations, helping keep our books accurate and audit-ready as we grow as a public company.

On a quarterly basis, you will assist in the preparation of the Company's Quarterly and Annual Reports on Forms 10-Q and 10-K, respectively, and work in DFIN to develop our financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures. You'll also work in QuickBooks Online and Brex day to day, support the monthly close, prepare reconciliations, including corporate bitcoin holdings in BitGo, and help manage accounts payable and vendor bill pay.

This is a great role for someone who has SEC reporting experience, or a strong interest in building it, and wants ownership of public-company accounting and the unique challenges of digital-asset accounting in a lean, collaborative team where your work is visible and valued. We're a small team and everyone wears several hats, so beyond SEC reporting and the close, you may also pitch in on AP and AR.

What You'll Own

  • Prepare quarterly and annual reports on Forms 10-Q and 10-K, including financial statements, footnotes, and disclosures in DFIN, and support other SEC filings such as Form 8-K.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external audit and quarterly review procedures, and serve as a day-to-day contact for external auditors.
  • Support SOX control execution and documentation for accounting-owned processes, including participating in Fold's quarterly User Access Reviews for finance systems like QuickBooks, Brex, and BitGo.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger in QuickBooks Online as part of the monthly close process.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid and accrued balances, and support for corporate bitcoin holdings in BitGo against custodial and on-chain records.
  • As needed, process accounts payable and vendor bill pay through Brex, including invoice coding, payment runs, and expense report reviews.
  • As needed, support accounts receivable activities, including invoicing and cash application.
  • Assist with payroll accounting entries and support in coordination with the People team.
  • Help maintain accurate, organized accounting records and documentation to keep the team audit-ready at all times.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or automate manual processes, including with AI tools.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing SEC filings such as Forms 10-Q and 10-K, at a public company or in public accounting with SEC registrant clients. If you don't have direct filing experience yet but want to build it, we'd still like to hear from you.
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience, including month-end close, general ledger and financial statement preparation, reconciliations, and corporate accounting; AP and AR experience is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with SEC reporting requirements, including Regulation S-X and Regulation S-K.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and modern accounting software; prior experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Brex is a plus, but willingness to learn new tools quickly matters more.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills — you catch the small things before they become big things.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and comfort asking questions when something is unclear.

Nice to Haves

  • Active CPA license, or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
  • Experience with DFIN ActiveDisclosure, Workiva, or a similar disclosure management tool, including XBRL tagging.
  • Builder mindset, intellectual curiosity, and interest in learning and fostering tools and processes, including AI tools, to work faster and smarter. No prior AI experience is needed.
  • Exposure to a public company or SOX-controlled environment.
  • Interest in or familiarity with digital assets or cryptocurrency.
  • User of Fold products.
