Job Description

Estimating & Design Lead — US Commercial Landscaping (Remote)

Schedule: Core U.S. business hours required, especially when coordinating with onsite sales, estimators, property managers, and field leadership. Exact schedule discussed during interviews.

Compensation: $1,250 USD/month base. OTE $3,250+ USD/month

Performance compensation designed to let strong performers earn an additional $2,000+ USD/month to the base salary (details below).

About Us

We're building a serious commercial landscaping company serving property managers, HOAs, multifamily communities, retail centers, office parks, banks, churches, schools, industrial properties, and other commercial accounts.

Our sales team is hunting new business aggressively. What's been missing is someone who can turn a site into an accurate, defensible estimate, and bring real landscape knowledge into the proposals we send.

The Role

This is not a cold-calling or prospecting seat. That's covered by our BD team.

We need someone who can look at a property, a site plan, or a set of specs and understand what it actually takes to landscape and maintain it: scope, plant material, hardscape, labor, timeline, and turn that into a clean, accurate estimate our sales team can put in front of a client fast.

There's a performance component tied to results, but the job is estimating and design support first. If you've spent real time in the green space, landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture, landscape architecture, you already have the instinct this role needs.

What You'll Own

Estimating

  • Review site plans, specs, and photos to scope landscaping and maintenance work accurately
  • Build cost estimates: materials, plants, labor, equipment, timeline
  • Turn quote requests into delivered proposals fast. Speed matters, most requested proposals should go out within 72 hours
  • Keep every estimate tracked from request to delivery to follow-up in the CRM

Design Support

  • Bring landscape/design judgment to proposals: plant selection, layout logic, what a property actually needs
  • Flag when a scope doesn't make sense or is missing something a client will ask about
  • Help our cold quote system: proactively estimating strong-fit properties before they ask

Coordination

  • Work closely with onsite sales, estimators, and field leadership. You're remote, not disconnected
  • Support site visits with prep: property research, past scope, photos, notes
  • Make sure nothing sits unowned between "quote requested" and "proposal sent"

Requirements

Required

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, horticulture, or landscape architecture. This is the priority
  • Comfortable reading site plans, specs, and property details, and translating them into scope and cost
  • Strong written and spoken English at a professional business level
  • Comfortable working core U.S. business hours
  • Comfortable with a performance/quota component, even without a sales background

A Strong Plus

  • Architecture, landscape architecture, or design education/experience
  • Experience with commercial (not just residential) landscaping or maintenance contracts
  • Experience with estimating software, CRM systems, or design tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar)

Who This Is For

People who know landscaping and green space, can look at a site and know what it takes to do the work right, and want to turn that knowledge into fast, accurate estimates that win contracts.

Who This Isn't For

People who want a pure prospecting/cold-calling seat. That's a different role. People without real hands-on landscape or green-space experience, regardless of design background.

Compensation

Base: $1,250 USD/month.

Performance compensation on top, designed to let strong performers earn $2,000+ USD/month additional:

  • Bonus for each qualified quote opportunity that leads to a real proposal
  • 1% commission on collected revenue for projects you were meaningfully involved in estimating
  • Commission is paid on collected revenue, not just signed contracts. Requires clean CRM notes and documented involvement.

How to Apply

You'll be asked a few questions when applying. Give specific, numbers-based answers, this is how we filter early. Vague answers won't move forward. A short video submission may be required at a later stage.
