Job Purpose

To translate the BCB investment strategy into disciplined portfolio execution, proposition development, digital enablement and commercial outcomes across SME, Mid-Corporate and Commercial Banking. The role supports the Head: Product - Invest by managing the investment product portfolio and delivery agenda, growing and retaining deposits, improving product mix and margins, and ensuring that clients can move seamlessly between transactional, liquidity and investment solutions.

The role is accountable for coordinating product management, frontline enablement, client experience, pricing execution, risk and regulatory requirements, and cross-functional delivery. It converts strategic intent into prioritised roadmaps, measurable initiatives and consistently competitive investment propositions that help business clients optimise liquidity, preserve capital and earn appropriate returns.

Job Responsibilities

Investment portfolio management and execution

  • Implement the investment portfolio strategy, annual business plan and prioritised roadmap under the direction of the Head: Product - Invest.
  • Manage the product continuum across call, notice, fixed-term and structured investment solutions, ensuring appropriate positioning for distinct liquidity and yield needs.
  • Track product performance, utilisation, client behaviour, maturity profiles and portfolio health, and initiate corrective actions where performance is off plan.
  • Coordinate product enhancements, rationalisation and lifecycle decisions, supported by clear client, commercial and operational evidence.

Deposit growth, product mix and margin management

  • Drive initiatives that grow and retain investment deposits while improving the balance between on-call, medium-term and longer-term funding.
  • Partner with Finance, Treasury, Pricing and segment teams to implement pricing curves, pricing mandates and margin actions within approved parameters.
  • Identify opportunities to move surplus transactional balances into appropriate investment solutions and deepen the client’s overall banking relationship.
  • Monitor flows, attrition, renewals, maturities and concentration risks, and coordinate targeted retention and growth interventions.

Proposition and client experience development

  • Translate segment, sector and client needs into clear investment propositions and value propositions for SME, Mid-Corporate and Commercial Banking.
  • Ensure that the investment product suite is simple to understand, competitive, cohesive and aligned to broader cash management and liquidity needs.
  • Use client feedback, service data, behavioural insights and competitor intelligence to identify proposition and process gaps.
  • Lead the definition of business requirements and acceptance criteria for new products, enhancements and journey improvements.

Digital investments and self-service enablement

  • Embed investment discovery, onboarding, funding, servicing, maturity and reinvestment journeys into segment-appropriate digital channels.
  • Partner with Digital Channels, Product Owners, Technology, Design and Operations to prioritise and deliver secure, intuitive and scalable capabilities.
  • Improve digital adoption and straight-through processing by removing friction, simplifying journeys and enabling relevant self-service.
  • Monitor digital funnel performance and client drop-off, and ensure benefits from digital investment are measured and realised.

Distribution and frontline enablement

  • Equip Business Managers, Relationship Managers and specialist teams with the investment playbooks, tools, training and insights needed for effective client conversations.
  • Partner with segments and sales teams to develop targeted acquisition, retention, renewal and cross-sell campaigns.
  • Create clear product communication and decision support that helps frontline teams match client liquidity requirements with suitable investment solutions.
  • Gather structured frontline feedback and convert recurring issues or opportunities into roadmap priorities.

Commercial performance and management information

  • Own agreed portfolio scorecards and report on balances, growth, margin, cost of funds, product mix, client activity, attrition, pipeline, maturity and channel performance.
  • Develop business cases and benefit measures for material product, process and digital initiatives.
  • Provide concise executive insights on performance drivers, risks, opportunities, dependencies and required decisions.
  • Work with analytics teams to improve dashboard quality, forecasting, segmentation and actionable portfolio intelligence.

Risk, regulatory and product governance

  • Ensure investment products, pricing actions and client journeys operate within applicable governance, conduct, liquidity, compliance and operational risk requirements.
  • Coordinate product reviews, control assessments, issue remediation, audit actions and governance submissions.
  • Maintain disciplined product documentation, approvals, controls and evidence of decision-making.
  • Escalate material portfolio, client, pricing, conduct, system or operational risks promptly and lead remediation within the role’s mandate.

Stakeholder and team leadership

  • Lead and develop product managers and specialists, setting clear outcomes, standards and accountability for delivery.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across Segments, Treasury, Finance, Pricing, Risk, Compliance, Operations, Digital, Technology and Distribution.
  • Create a high-trust, client-focused and delivery-oriented culture that encourages continuous improvement and responsible innovation.
