Payroll manager

Payroll isn't just about getting the numbers right, it's about making sure an entire workforce gets paid right, every time. Our client is a fast-paced FMCG food giant based in Centurion, looking for a Payroll Manager who can take ownership of the payroll function, keep things compliant and bring some process magic to a high-volume environment. If you're a Payspace Super User, a payroll problem-solver and someone who enjoys making processes better rather than simply following them, this could be your next move.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the full payroll function from input through to final processing
• Oversee monthly payroll, reconciliations, journals and reporting
• Manage employee changes, leave, overtime, deductions and benefits
• Ensure accurate PAYE, UIF, SDL and other statutory submissions
• Maintain payroll controls and ensure legislative compliance
• Review payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Manage payroll queries and provide support to employees and stakeholders
• Prepare payroll reports and provide insights to Finance and management
• Support internal and external payroll audits
• Maintain accurate employee and payroll records
• Identify opportunities to streamline, automate and improve payroll processes
• Lead, manage and develop the payroll team

Job Experience and Skills:

• Relevant tertiary or payroll qualification
• Managerial payroll experience within a high-volume environment
• Payspace Super User essential
• Strong understanding of payroll legislation and statutory requirements
• Full payroll cycle experience
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
• Experience with payroll reconciliations, journals and reporting
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to work under pressure and meet non-negotiable payroll deadlines
• Hands-on, organised and solutions-driven approach
