About the Role: We are looking for a Junior IT Technician with 2+ years of experience in Desktop and Networking support to join our team, focusing on providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance for various IT systems and networks. In this role, the successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining our IT infrastructure and ensuring seamless operation of technology resources across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve technical support requests from end-users, providing timely assistance via phone, email, or in-person.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems.
- Perform regular system audits, backups, and upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network connectivity issues to maintain consistent and reliable access to resources.
- Document support requests and resolutions, maintaining an accurate record for future reference and training purposes.
- Collaborate with senior IT Technician on projects, including hardware rollouts and system enhancements.
- Educate users on best practices for technology use and provide training on new technologies as needed.
- Assist in maintaining IT inventory, including tracking equipment and software licenses.
Requirements:
- A foundational understanding of computer systems, networks, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proven track record of customer service excellence and effective communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience with Windows and Mac operating systems as well as common software applications.
- Basic knowledge of network configurations and troubleshooting, including experience with routers and switches.
- Familiarity with help desk software and ticketing systems is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certification such as CompTIA A+, N+ or similar certification essential.
- IT Related qualification.
- Experience with mobile device management and support.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Successful candidate must live in a 25km radius of Parktown, Johannesburg. This position involves occasional travel to our various sites where you would need to stay over for a night or two.
