ACCOUNTANT | RESTAURANT GROUP

Can you keep the numbers under control when the transactions don't stop? A well-established and growing group within the restaurant and hospitality sector is looking for an experienced Accountant to join its finance team in Sea Point, Cape Town. If you are highly proficient in Pastel, confident across the full accounting function, and comfortable working in an exceptionally high-volume environment, this could be an excellent long-term career opportunity.

This is a hands-on accounting role where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day accounting function while providing reliable financial support to operational management. The environment is fast-paced and transaction-heavy, so accuracy, resilience and the ability to work under pressure are essential. The business is looking for someone who values stability, loyalty and long-term career growth and wants to become an integral part of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting processes through to trial balance
• Manage creditors, debtors and cashbooks
• Perform bank processing and reconciliations
• Complete general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with month-end and year-end processes
• Prepare information and supporting documentation for auditors
• Manage cost-of-sales and food-cost accounting
• Ensure accurate and efficient GAAP-related accounting processes
• Provide financial support to operational managers
• Maintain accuracy and financial control across a high-volume transactional environment

Job Experience and Skills Required:

Education: BCom degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Completed articles will be advantageous.

Experience: Preferably 3–5 years' post-qualification accounting experience. Strong full-function accounting experience. Experience within a high-volume environment is essential. Restaurant, hospitality, FMCG or retail exposure will be advantageous. Strong creditors, debtors, cashbook, trial balance and balance sheet experience. Cost-of-sales and/or food-cost experience will be advantageous.

Skills: Advanced / 100% proficiency in Pastel is essential. Strong reconciliation skills. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage significant transaction volumes and tight deadlines. Hands-on and operationally minded. Dependable, committed and comfortable supporting operational managers when required.
