This position manages the day-to-day processing of banking, cashbook transactions, payment allocations, and routine financial administration in a growing construction company. The role focuses on executing accurate daily and monthly bank reconciliations, handling Cash On Delivery account management, managing proof of delivery records, and maintaining strict petty cash controls.
Working full-time on-site, the post holder supports month-end processes and assists with internal and external financial queries while adhering to internal control standards. The position requires strong administrative accuracy, numerical aptitude, and a commitment to professional development within the finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and process daily bank transactions, accurately allocating receipts and payments to appropriate accounts, ledgers, and customer files.
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving any transaction discrepancies promptly.
- Process and monitor cash sales payment allocations, maintain COD aging schedules, clear queries, and resolve cross-account allocations.
- Manage and monitor Gauteng COD accounts, verifying payment allocations and investigating variances between transactions and customer accounts.
- Oversee the Proof of Delivery (POD) email mailbox, ensuring incoming documentation is filed, distributed, accurate, and followed up where outstanding.
- Manage petty cash processes, including transaction recording, regular reconciliations, authorization verification, and discrepancy reporting.
- Provide general administrative support to the finance department, including maintaining organised financial records, supporting month-end tasks, and addressing internal and external queries.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years' experience in a cashbook, finance administration, accounts, or similar finance role.
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Practical experience executing bank reconciliations and processing financial transactions.
- Demonstrated organizational, administrative, and numerical abilities with high attention to detail.
Desirable Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualification or certificate in finance or accounting.
- Previous experience utilizing accounting or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
