POSITION TITLE: Wellness Program Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Wellness
WAGE: Grade 15

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the leadership and development of a comprehensive wellness program. This position requires compliance with Health Center’s compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the position’s regular performance evaluation.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the day-to-day of the Yakutat Community Health Center (YCHC) wellness program.
- Hires, trains, assigns, schedules, directs, supervises, evaluates and disciplines assigned employees.
- Coordinates, plans, and facilitates health and fitness activities and programs for employees.
- Implements the approved community wellness program and recommends program enhancements to the Specialty Services Manager.
- Coordinates educational presentations and training programs.
- Plans and implements classes and organizes/schedules instructors, presenters and speakers.
- Develops promotion and publicity plans for wellness and fitness programs throughout the organization.
- Organizes and provides oversite for all Wellness Activities and Staffing such as but not limited to Open Gym and Gym attendant’s.
- Work with multiple departments to ensure Wellness and Prevention needs are being met and organize prevention and wellness activities to meet multiple demographic needs.
- Compiles statistical summaries of participant data, class attendance, and equipment inventories and provides the information to the Specialty Services Manager for program monitoring and evaluation.
- Provides program input for the development of the wellness budget, policies, and procedures and implements approved budgets, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares program activity reports as requested.
- Must comply with federal laws and regulations as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- This position is a Mandatory Reporter.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, requiring use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. The work area is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. The employee must be able to read, write, speak and hear. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Supervisory and Management Responsibility:
This is a mid-level position that reports to the Specialty Services Manager. This position functions as a first-level supervisor with responsibility for overseeing assigned staff and daily operations in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; addressing employee concerns and disciplinary matters; and resolving operational issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Alaska with a clean driving record.
- Must successfully pass a criminal history and background check.
- This position has been designated as having regular contact or control over Indian children and will require an additional FBI criminal background check.
- Must present vaccination documentation or submit to immunity testing for Tdap, hepatitis B, measles, varicella, and influenza within 3 months of hire.
