Compensation:

• Base Pay Range: $56,591 - $84,419 per year, based on experience

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

• Perform a variety of tasks associated with departmental operations, budgeting, and staffing. Assist management in interviewing, selecting, training, and counseling staff in the designated section of the Patient Accounts department. Plan and assign work to staff in the designated section of the Patient Accounts Department. Demonstrate to staff appropriate methods and procedures to complete work assignments.
• Review staff's work in progress for adherence to appropriate methods and procedures and completion of work promptly. Instruct and advise staff on changes in policies, procedures, and work standards. Monitor staff's workload and productivity to meet the department's workload and productivity standards.
• Assist management in monitoring department operations and objectives to ensure quality services are being provided. Assist management in monitoring the department's Guest Relations Program. Participate as a representative on behalf of the designated section of the Patient Accounts department on assigned hospital committees. Relate to patients, faculty, and other hospital personnel in providing information, maintaining control functions, and acquiring information necessary for the processing of patient accounts and collection of those accounts concerning assigned sections.
• Maintain oral and written contact with outside agencies and patients concerning insurance claims, patient accounts, and collections. Supervise gathering of data for compilation into various reports. Compile data, as necessary, for the annual departmental budget and recommend a budget for the assigned section.
• Develop, coordinate, and maintain daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care. Monitor time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
• Experience in government payer, managed care payer, healthcare billing, healthcare reimbursement, or claims processing/payment variance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in medical terminology and ICD-9 and/or ICD-10, CPT coding and DRG's and APC's.
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
