Senior Operational Excellence Analyst

Summary

The Senior Operational Excellence Analyst independently leads process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives across clinical and administrative operations, applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies to identify inefficiencies, redesign workflows, and deliver measurable, sustainable performance gains. This role serves as a subject-matter expert (SME) within the department, mentoring Analysts and coordinating with stakeholders across multiple service lines. In addition to leading process improvement work, the Senior Analyst provides advanced project management support, helping structure, govern, and track multi-stakeholder initiative. This position blends hands-on improvement leadership with the project discipline needed to sustain a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead process improvement initiatives across clinical and administrative operations, applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools to initiatives across multiple Service Lines, J35, and strategic projects, ensuring alignment with organizational quality and performance standards.
  • Lead process mapping and workflow analysis sessions, including more complex or cross-departmental initiatives, to identify inefficiencies, waste, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Plan and facilitate Kaizen events and continuous improvement workshops, guiding cross-functional teams through root cause analysis, solution design, pilot testing, and sustainment planning.
  • Apply DMAIC and other Lean Six Sigma frameworks to structure and lead improvement projects from problem definition through implementation and control/sustainment, selecting the appropriate tools and methods based on project complexity.
  • Conduct data analysis, including root cause to identify trends, establish baseline performance, validate improvement impact, and support data-driven recommendations to leadership.
  • Follow and own standard operating procedures, process maps, and control plans, and establish mechanisms to sustain and hardwire improvements over time.
  • Serve as a mentor to Analysts, assist in reviewing their process improvement work and supporting their development in Lean Six Sigma tools and methods.
  • Partner with clinical and administrative stakeholders, including department leaders, to build buy-in, drive adoption of redesigned processes, and lead change management activities for assigned initiatives.
  • Identify, document, and proactively resolve or escalate risks, barriers, and resource needs affecting improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the standardization of Operational Excellence methodology, tools, templates, and best practices.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of moderately complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including scope, schedule, milestone tracking, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, dashboards, charters, action logs, risk registers, and status reports, and prepare summaries for leadership.
  • Facilitate project meetings and working sessions, including with department stakeholders, preparing agendas, documenting decisions, and driving action items to closure.
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates in PMO systems and tools, and monitor data quality across project documentation.
  • Maintain and help standardize documentation repositories, folders, templates, and tools under the leadership of Director's & Executive leadership.
  • Provide informal guidance to Analysts on project documentation and PMO tool usage.
  • Perform all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally, requires 3 to 5 years of experience leading or co-leading process improvement projects and applying Lean Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies in a healthcare or similarly environment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Business Administration, Data Analytics, or a related field is required.

Skill

Demonstrated healthcare operations experience, with direct exposure to clinical workflows, administrative processes, and/or revenue cycle functions. Working knowledge of project and process improvement methodologies, including PMBOK, Agile, Lean, and Lean Six Sigma, with the ability to select and apply the right framework based on initiative complexity. Change management skills, including stakeholder engagement, communication planning, and driving adoption and sustainment of newly redesigned processes. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and facilitate meetings, workshops, and working sessions that keep initiatives moving toward decisions and action. Ability to mentor and develop less experienced analysts, including reviewing their process improvement work and building their proficiency in Lean Six Sigma tools and methods. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including advanced data and statistical analysis, root cause identification, and support for evidence-based decision-making. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools, including ClickUp, SharePoint, MS Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent platforms. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear status reports, executive-level presentations, and summaries for varied audiences. Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to think strategically and connect day-to-day work to broader organizational impact.

Credentials

Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is required. Project Management professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
