Job Description

Overview

The Software Development Manager - CMAP/ERP leads the engineering team delivering CMaP - the rewrite of CPI Card Group's legacy ASI platform - which serves as the connective tissue linking manufacturing operations, enterprise systems, and data. CMaP integrates the new Acumatica ERP, manufacturing tools, and the Databricks Medallion Lakehouse on AWS.

Reporting to the SVP, Business Technology and Data, this is a hands-on engineering leadership role responsible for managing a distributed development team, coordinating vendor delivery, and bridging legacy manufacturing systems with CPI's modern data and ERP landscape. The role is a key execution partner as CMaP progresses from MVP through production deployment, and it exists to ensure CPI modernizes the technology backbone of its payment card manufacturing and personalization operations on time and with production-grade quality.

Responsibilities

This is a people-leadership role responsible for the CMaP engineering team (direct and matrixed), including offshore engineers and external vendor/contractor teams (e.g., Zensar). The role is accountable for delivery of the CMaP platform that bridges manufacturing operations, Monarch, and Acumatica, and underpins CPI's modernization of its payment card manufacturing and personalization technology backbone.

The CMaP ERP Software Engineering Manager has leadership authority over the CMaP engineering team, its delivery plan, engineering standards, and day-to-day execution, and makes staffing, work-allocation, and performance decisions within approved headcount. The role owns technical and delivery decisions for the CMaP platform and manages vendor and contractor delivery against milestones. Decisions involving material scope changes, new vendor commitments, changes to the headcount plan, or shifts in program timeline or regulatory risk posture are made in partnership with the SVP, Business Technology and Data.

  • Team Leadership and Delivery Management (30%) - Lead, mentor, and manage the offshore (India-based) engineering team, developing it into a primary execution arm for CPI's data and ERP initiatives. Set objectives, allocate work, manage performance, and cultivate a high-performing, increasingly self-directed team.
  • End-to-End Platform Delivery (25%) - Own delivery of the CMaP platform rewrite across all milestones: the Databricks MVP (August 2026), the H2 2026 launch, and Q1 2027 production deployment. Manage timelines, dependencies, scope, and quality to ensure reliable, on-time execution.
  • Systems Integration and Data Governance (20%) - Ensure CMaP operates as the connective tissue between the Acumatica ERP, the legacy Monarch environment, and the Databricks Medallion Lakehouse (Bronze/Silver/Gold). Ensure CMaP correctly consumes governed data definitions (e.g., UCID, Product Hierarchy) from the Databricks platform.
  • Vendor Coordination and Engineering Standards (15%) - Coordinate vendor and flex-team delivery (e.g., Zensar contractors), managing scope, capacity, and quality against defined milestones. Establish and enforce engineering best practices across CI/CD (GitLab), AWS environments, and data pipeline integration.
  • Risk Management and Cross-Functional Partnership (10%) - Identify and manage technical "known-unknowns" early - including billing automation and volume/scaling design - as planned-for workstreams rather than late surprises. Partner with Product Development, IT/PMO, and data engineering to align delivery with business needs in a regulated card-production environment.

Drive retirement of legacy platforms ahead of the 2028 end-of-support deadline. Contribute to workforce and capacity planning for the offshore engineering team, including contractor-to-FTE strategy. Support PCI/SOX compliance requirements applicable to the card-production environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud architecture and data pipeline integration.
  • Proficiency with modern CI/CD practices and tooling (GitLab preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to navigate cross-functional and inter-organizational dynamics.
  • Familiarity with Databricks (Medallion/Lakehouse architecture) and modern data governance concepts preferred.
  • Background in payments, card manufacturing/personalization, or a regulated production environment (PCI/SOX awareness a plus).
  • Experience bridging on-prem legacy systems (e.g., Monarch) with cloud-native platforms preferred.
  • Exposure to BI/visualization tooling (Sigma Computing, Power BI) a plus.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineering teams (with distributed/offshore teams).
  • Proven track record delivering complex platform builds or rewrites in a manufacturing, operations, or production environment.
  • Experience integrating with or building alongside ERP systems (Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating third-party vendors and contractor teams against fixed milestones.

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
