Student Event Assistant

Student Employment

Position Summary

The Student Event Assistant will assist the Conference and Event Services department with the setup, tear-down, and technical support for campus events. This role requires a basic understanding of video projection equipment, audio systems (microphones, speakers, mixers), and some experience with theatrical lighting boards. The candidate will work both independently and as part of a team, providing professional support for campus and external clients.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Event Setup & Tear-down: Assist with the setup and breakdown of event materials and technical equipment, including video, audio, and lighting components.
  • Technical Support: Operate and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment (microphones, speakers, mixers), ensuring smooth operation during events.
  • Equipment Handling: Safely manage and transport event carts across campus to deliver necessary materials to event locations.
  • Client Interaction: Work professionally with campus and external clients to meet event needs and provide excellent customer service.
  • Problem Solving: Adapt to changing circumstances and challenges, solving problems quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • On-the-Job Training: Complete training on specialized equipment, including audio/visual tools and lighting boards, as needed.
