About the Role: The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications is a highly visible strategic leadership role within Takeda Oncology’s Global Medical Affairs Oncology organization, supporting the company's mission to aspire to cure cancer by driving the scientific publications and communications strategy for assigned hematology oncology assets. Reporting to the Scientific Communications Group Lead, Hematology, this individual serves as a subject matter expert in publication best practices and scientific communications, proactively developing and executing comprehensive publication and communication plans aligned with medical strategy, data availability, and transparency requirements.
The role leads cross-functional publication planning teams and collaborates closely with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Outcomes Research, and regional and global stakeholders to deliver high-impact scientific publications and medical communication materials, including manuscripts, congress presentations, scientific slide decks, NCCN and pathway submissions, field medical tools, training materials, digital content, animations, websites, and other scientific resources. The Senior Manager oversees vendors, authors, writers, and external partners, manages program budgets, ensures compliance with global publication standards and scientific rigor, and serves as the primary liaison with key opinion leaders, investigators, and collaborators.
Additionally, this individual leads the development of scientific platforms that establish core scientific messaging and a consistent scientific voice across all communication channels, helping translate complex data into clear, impactful, and compliant scientific narratives that advance Takeda Oncology’s strategic objectives.
Ability to identify opportunities and anticipate changes in the business landscape through an understanding and ongoing assessment of the environment.
Ability to cultivate a broad network of relationships throughout the organization, connecting global, regional and local organizations. Requires experience and success in working in a matrix, cross-functional environment; excellent collaboration skills; experience working across functions to achieve results.
Ability to create a clear and unifying vision inspiring teams to excel.
Creates functional strategies and goals that are closely aligned with company objectives and develops metrics to track and assess performance.
Ability to contribute to data analytics and publication planning, including ideas for sub-analyses.
Excellent understanding of regulatory, compliance and legal requirements.
Advanced PC skills, including Datavision, MS Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, and SharePoint.
Up to 10% domestic and international travel required.
