This position pays $14.00 per hour.

Job Description

Basic Purpose

Interpretive Guides facilitate educational programming, serve as guides for areas of interest within a state park or other tourism location, and maintain facility standards. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, and physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments. This is a seasonal, part-time, entry-level position.

Typical Job Duties

• Lead guided hikes or other outdoor recreation activities.
• Deliver educational programming.
• Plan and lead arts and crafts activities.
• Maintain trails, including repairs, within the park.
• Perform live animal enclosure upkeep, including care and cleaning.
• Assist with routine groundskeeping and facility organization around Nature Center.
• Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
• Engage with guests in informed interpretation.
• Assist in event setup and takedown.
• Complete daily opening and closing duties for Nature Center.
• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite as well as other software to complete various administrative tasks.
• Performs assigned duties independently, requiring minimal on-site supervision, and completes scheduled tasks accurately and within established deadlines.
• Performs other duties as assigned to support daily operations and agency needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Physical requirements will include the ability to lead walking tours and navigate trails, regular bending, stooping, and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions, including prolonged exposure to heat, cold, humidity, sun, and wind.

Special Requirements

Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency. Some locations may require a valid Driver’s License.
