Position Summary:
The Sales Manager works under the direction of the Director of Hospitality Operations and works closely with the Sales Coordinator to manage and grow group business, including corporate groups, holiday parties, tourism-based groups, associations, meetings, conferences, and social events such as weddings and reunions. This position is responsible for developing new business opportunities, maintaining existing client relationships, increasing revenue, and ensuring exceptional guest service throughout the sales process. The Sales Manager will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrate sound judgment, and be committed to delivering outstanding results and guest experiences.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Sales Manager works under the general direction of the Director of Hospitality Operations and is responsible for accomplishing the duties and responsibilities established for this position, including but not limited to the following:
- Manage and respond to group business inquiries via phone, email, and other communication channels, ensuring prompt responses by the end of each business day.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, and correspondence for prospective and existing clients.
- Develop and implement strategies to generate new business opportunities on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with potential clients through networking events, chambers of commerce, trade associations, tourism organizations, business publications, online marketing efforts, and site visits.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to encourage repeat business and long-term partnerships.
- Track and maintain all group business activity, sales leads, bookings, contracts, and revenue data through established reporting systems.
- Coordinate the sales process for all group events, meetings, conferences, and special events from initial inquiry through event completion.
- Work collaboratively with the Sales Coordinator to support sales initiatives, coordinate event details, manage client relationships, and achieve departmental revenue goals.
- Conduct site tours and presentations for prospective clients and groups.
- Provide guidance, support, and training to the Sales Coordinator to ensure consistency in guest service, sales efforts, and administrative processes.
- Participate in weekly operational and event planning meetings.
- Assist in developing and managing the annual Sales Department budget, including forecasting, revenue targets, and business development initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, competitor activity, market conditions, and emerging opportunities for business growth.
- Handle guest concerns, complaints, and special requests professionally and in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit monthly sales activity reports, revenue reports, booking pace reports, and client feedback summaries to the Director of Hospitality Operations.
- Attend major group functions and events to ensure client satisfaction and strengthen business relationships.
- Provide regular updates to the Director of Hospitality Operations regarding sales activities, business development efforts, revenue performance, booking pace, and departmental goals.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.

Qualifications – Education and Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in hospitality sales, group sales, event sales, banquet sales, marketing, or a related hospitality leadership role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Four (4) or more years of experience in hospitality sales, resort sales, event sales, destination marketing, or sales management.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Outgoing personality with a strong focus on guest service and relationship building.
- Professional demeanor with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and capable of exercising sound judgment.
