Meijer offers an 11-week internship program that challenges interns to deliver innovative solutions to real projects that impact the business. Throughout the course of the internship experience, we deliver diverse personal and professional development opportunities that further develop skillsets that can be implemented both during and after the program. The internship program will allow for interaction with other interns and Meijer senior leaders.
Meijer’s Store Leadership Internship will build a foundation of retail knowledge and expose participants to store leadership opportunities. The internship experience is the first step in an accelerated pathway to additional store leadership roles. Interns that convert into a fulltime role with Meijer will participate in structured development programs and leadership rotations to build leadership capabilities and retail business acumen. For those with a desire to excel, who demonstrate high leadership potential and a passion for the values that make Meijer successful, a Store Director Position may be only 5-6 years away. Store Directors at Meijer lead a multimillion dollar/year business, with several hundred team members, and potential to earn over six figures in salary and bonus.
During the first half of the Store Leadership Internship, participants will receive a foundation of retail knowledge and leadership competencies. In the second half of the internship, participants will apply what they have learned in an official leadership role as an Intern Team Leader where they will be responsible for business results, team member engagement, and customer experience. This will require a flexible schedule such as working some nights and/or weekends. Conversion to a full-time team member following the internship will be based on interest, performance throughout the internship, and leadership potential.
