Job Summary

As a Project Management Specialist Intern at BPMI, you will perform routine business and/or technical functions to execute the BPMI Mission in areas including but not limited to supporting senior project managers by assisting with project planning and execution, risk and issue management, reporting and documentation and quality assurance to ensure project objectives are met. This opportunity will begin Summer 2027, working a full-time schedule (40 hours/week). Please note, this is not a remote position. You will be expected to come into the office for this opportunity. Our internship will give you the opportunity to work in your field of study while simultaneously pursuing your bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university. These opportunities can enhance your academic training while teaching critical business skills and allowing you to learn about BPMI, the Navy, and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.

Essential Duties:

• Assist with developing project plans, schedules, and task lists, including timelines and key milestones.
• Help identify required resources and basic budget elements by gathering and updating planning data.
• Support day-to-day coordination of project activities, tracking task status, updating schedules, and following up on action items.
• Monitor progress against plans, flagging issues or potential delays to the project lead.
• Participate in project team meetings, documenting decisions, risks, action items, and lessons learned.
• Assign and track tasks in project management tools as directed.
• Compile data and visuals (charts, dashboards) to support status reporting and project reviews.
• Gather and document stakeholder requirements and expectations.
• Prepare and organize project documentation (requirements, schedules, action logs, meeting minutes, status reports) in designated repositories.
• Assist in identifying, tracking, and documenting project risks, issues, and mitigation options.
• Learn and apply the organization’s project management processes, tools, and standards; seek feedback and coaching to build skills.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Enrolled in a business, engineering, or related undergraduate degree program from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of four full semesters completed prior to your internship (~60 credits).
• A minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Good organizational skills.
• Able to adapt to new circumstances and unexpected events.
• Experience designing interactive dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to evolving project requirements while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
