Position Type: Full Time (Permanent hire)

Production Summary
We are seeking a hands-on, client-focused Production Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of live events and audiovisual productions for a growing small business. This person will serve as a key operational contact for clients and take ownership of projects from pre-production planning through successful on-site delivery. The Production Manager will coordinate technical requirements, equipment, crews, schedules, logistics, travel, and client expectations while ensuring each production is delivered professionally and reliably. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, personable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who can manage multiple moving parts, communicate confidently with clients, lead production teams, solve problems independently, and step in with practical event or warehouse work when needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary production contact for clients, providing a professional, responsive, and personable experience throughout the production process.
- Manage live event productions from pre-production planning through event execution, strike, and completion.
- Work with clients to understand event goals, technical requirements, timelines, and expectations.
- Coordinate audiovisual requirements including audio, video, lighting, staging, LED, projection, and related event production equipment.
- Determine appropriate equipment, staffing, scheduling, and technical resources for each production.
- Plan and schedule production labor, technicians, freelance crews, vendors, equipment, and related logistics.
- Create and manage production schedules, timelines, equipment lists, crew assignments, and event documentation.
- Coordinate equipment preparation, loading, transportation, load-in, setup, show operation, strike, and return.
- Coordinate travel and accommodations as projects expand beyond the local area.
- Provide on-site production leadership and serve as a resource for crews, clients, venues, and vendors.
- Troubleshoot technical, staffing, scheduling, and logistical issues as they arise.
- Ensure crews have the equipment, information, and resources needed to execute each event successfully.
- Communicate production requirements clearly with technicians, vendors, venues, clients, and internal team members.
- Monitor labor requirements, equipment utilization, production expenses, and project budgets.
- Maintain high standards for event execution, professionalism, safety, reliability, and client service.
- Conduct post-event follow-up and identify opportunities to improve processes and future productions.
- Manage multiple events and projects simultaneously while maintaining strong organization and attention to detail.
- Work hands-on when needed, including equipment preparation, warehouse responsibilities, loading trucks, setup, strike, and other practical production tasks.
- Support evening and weekend event delivery as required.
- Work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and solve problems without close supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in live event production, audiovisual production, event production, or a related technical environment.
- Experience managing or coordinating live events from planning through on-site execution.
- Working knowledge of professional audio, video, lighting, staging, projection, LED, and/or related production systems.
- Experience coordinating technicians, production crews, freelance personnel, vendors, or other event staff.
- Strong organizational, scheduling, and project management skills.
- Ability to coordinate multiple events, deadlines, crews, equipment needs, and changing priorities.
- Strong client-facing communication and customer service skills.
- Professional, personable, and dependable approach when working with clients and production teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions in fast-paced live production environments.
- Comfortable working directly with clients, venues, technicians, vendors, and other event partners.
- Comfortable balancing leadership responsibilities with hands-on operational work.
- Practical, roll-up-your-sleeves approach suited to a smaller business where team members take broad ownership of delivery.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours when required by event schedules.
- Willingness and ability to travel to event locations as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working for a live event AV production company, event production company, staging company, or similar organization.
- Experience with corporate events, conferences, meetings, galas, concerts, or other live productions.
- Hands-on technical AV experience.
- Experience managing production budgets, labor, equipment, and project profitability.
- Previous experience leading technicians or production teams.
- Experience working within a smaller, fast-paced organization where employees take broad ownership of projects.
- Existing knowledge of venues, vendors, technicians, and event resources within Utah is beneficial.
