RESPONSIBILITIES

Job Summary

The Procurement Buyer reports to the Procurement Plant Lead and is responsible for supporting Business Unit objectives through the effective execution of procurement strategies. These strategies include, but are not limited to, ensuring continuity of supply, delivering cost savings, optimizing processes, and mitigating supplier risk. This role supports plant operations and production requirements by securing the best overall value for materials and services while maintaining compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and audit standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare requests for quotation and proposals in support of plant requirements.
  • Evaluate supplier quotations and perform cost analyses to identify the best overall value based on price, quality, delivery, and supplier capability.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and lead times in alignment with plant and business objectives.
  • Issue purchase orders against approved requisitions to support production, operational, and inventory needs.
  • Manage and maintain purchase orders to ensure accuracy of pricing, charge account coding, and supplier commitment dates.
  • Monitor invoices on hold and coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Receiving department to reconcile supplier shipping documentation and related records.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Shipping, Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, Accounts Payable, Facilities, and other internal teams to resolve plant-related issues efficiently.
  • Liaise with Financial Shared Services to address and resolve purchase-to-pay issues.
  • Support the onboarding of new suppliers and the setup of new items within applicable systems.
  • Ensure adherence to global procurement procedures, quality requirements, and departmental standards.
  • Support compliance activities associated with quality and financial audits.
  • Assist Segment Procurement in supplier planning, supplier performance monitoring, ASAT activities, and related initiatives.
  • Provide responsive and professional support to overall business operations.
  • Work in close coordination with other applicable casting facilities to ensure alignment and consistency.
  • Maintain a regular presence on the shop floor to strengthen understanding of plant operations and operational priorities.
  • Develop and maintain tools, templates, and communication methods that improve efficiency, simplify workflows, and enhance execution of procurement-related activities.
  • This role may occasionally require work outside of standard business hours to support operational needs or respond to urgent business matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred; or a minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, purchasing or finance.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle or similar enterprise business systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced capability in Excel preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to develop metrics, analyze data, and produce reports.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer-service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
