Position Summary

We are looking for a skilled, resourceful, and collaborative Process Engineer to join our team in Bedford, NH. The Process Engineer will work closely with a team of engineers supporting gaseous energy projects. This is a fast-paced and dynamic position, with opportunities to be challenged, contribute to project outcomes, interact routinely with project Principals and clients, and grow professionally.

What You Will Do

• Support process design and documentation of projects in the gaseous energy sector, focusing on natural gas, LNG, RNG, CNG, propane-air, hydrogen facilities, and metering/regulating stations.
• Develop and optimize process designs including process flow diagrams (PFDs), heat and material balances (HMBs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and process simulation modeling.
• Lead or support hazard identification (HAZID), process hazard analysis (PHA), and hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies as part of the design process.
• Size process equipment (heat exchangers, boilers, pumps, compressors) and prepare written specifications for equipment and materials.
• Develop process control narratives (PCNs), cause and effect (C&E) matrices, and comprehensive technical reports.
• Prepare plant documentation including operating & maintenance procedures, purging procedures, as-built drawings, and risk management plans.
• Conduct site visits to utility and industrial client facilities to review existing processes, piping, equipment layouts, and identify design integration requirements.
• Develop training documentation and conduct training sessions to support clients’ operations and maintenance needs.
• Provide operations and commissioning support and consulting, including on-site support when required.
• Mentor junior staff to develop their technical skills and instill good consulting and engineering service practices to support their growth in the firm.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience with natural gas systems, propane-air, hydrogen systems, and process instrumentation and controls.
• Strong background in risk management, process safety, and operations/commissioning procedures including on-site experience.
• Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and technical writing skills with the ability to work collaboratively and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Client-service orientation with ability to anticipate needs and deliver exceptional results.
• Experience with process simulation modeling software.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (Energy Focus) with 4-8 years of relevant experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within one year, preferred.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

Requires sitting, walking and, at times, bending and prolonged standing. Must be able to visit project sites and climb ladders and stairs as required. The work requires both indoor and outdoor activity in temperatures ranging from moderate to extreme cold or hot and other weather conditions. Must be able to wear and work in personal protective equipment as required. Substantial repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers is required. Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Work Format and Schedule

• Standard Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexibility in daily hours.
• Work Format: On-site Office Location: Bedford, NH
• Travel Requirement: 10-20%

Salary Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $104,000 to $116,000 per year. Specific compensation for the successful candidate will be based on factors such as experience, education, training, qualifications, and work location. Supplemental Pay: Annual bonus is based on individual and company performance.
