Job Description

Define the strategic direction and long-term evolution of Northwell's digital workplace. Set the vision, roadmap, governance, and experience standards for Workplace Technology Services so technology investments improve clinician and employee productivity, simplify support, and align with enterprise priorities.

Highly Preferred Experience:

Strategic Planning and Portfolio Management

  • Develop and own the multiyear strategy, roadmap, and technology portfolio for Workplace Technology Services, ensuring investments align with enterprise priorities and measurable business outcomes.
  • Translate enterprise initiatives and business objectives into workplace technology standards and roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies through business cases and investment recommendations that position Northwell for future workplace transformation.

Architecture and Technology Governance

  • Establish architectural principles, standards, and governance that keep workplace technologies scalable, secure, supportable, and aligned across the portfolio, and lead architecture reviews for major initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering leadership to define future state direction while engineering teams retain ownership of implementation and operational delivery.

Digital Workplace Experience

  • Define and lead the Digital Employee Experience strategy, setting measurable standards across workplace technologies and support services and using telemetry, analytics, and employee feedback to improve performance, reliability, and usability.
  • Drive modernization of the employee technology lifecycle through automation, workflow optimization, self service capabilities, and modern provisioning strategies.

Enterprise Transformation and Executive Partnership

  • Serve as the Workplace Technology strategy lead for enterprise initiatives including Epic, Nuvance integration, AI adoption, mergers and acquisitions, and cloud modernization.
  • Act as the central technology integrator across engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Enterprise Architecture, Clinical Informatics, vendors, and business stakeholders, representing WTS in executive and enterprise governance forums.

Job Responsibility

  • Contributes through a combination of key technical expertise and technical/process leadership that regularly provides enterprise level guidance to team members.
  • Oversees the planning, organization, and direction of activities of the IT Portfolio Management function; coordinates IT project planning activities to ensure optimum scheduling and allocation of resources to achieve enterprise goals and objectives; directs the portfolio data collection processes allowing visibility into project, program, and portfolio critical path dependencies and cross portfolio dependencies to optimize IT throughput potential; collaborates with IT leadership in providing creative strategies in managing overall IT demand.
  • Collaborates with senior IT leadership and portfolio management to develop a master plan which aligns with internal IT strategic objectives and enterprise business objectives; conducts project and cross project critical path analysis to alert stakeholders of potential risks and assist in conducting “what if” analysis to mitigate risks; collaborates with key stakeholders to develop strategies to increase the overall throughput of IT delivery.
  • Oversees the planning, development, and direction of Enterprise Portfolio Management operations, incorporating Lean Portfolio Management principles and framework.
  • Evaluates and directs the assessment of industry best practices on an on-going basis and supports strategies for program adaptation to continually improve our capabilities.

Job Qualification

  • Master's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience and 5+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
  • Ten or more years of enterprise IT experience, including five or more in technical architecture, engineering leadership, or digital workplace strategy, with a record of leading large scale transformation across multiple technology domains.
  • Broad expertise across endpoint management, collaboration platforms, identity, mobility, cloud workspaces, and Digital Employee Experience.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management.
  • Epic or healthcare experience preferred.
