Job Description

About The Role

Heritage Bank of Nevada is seeking a dynamic executive to serve as Division President and to continue the bank’s tradition of success and community service throughout its footprint. The Division President will be responsible for the overall management and growth of the bank. The position requires an individual with proven leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional communication skills to lead the bank toward profitable business outcomes.

This executive will lead the bank’s growth and implement strategies to meet financial objectives across its key lines of business, while maintaining a client focus and enhancing the delivery of high-quality banking products and services to the bank’s core customer groups. Additionally, the Division President will be charged with operating the bank in a safe and sound regulatory environment, generating profitability, developing the organization’s human capital, and contributing to the success of the bank’s customers and communities.

The successful candidate will have deep knowledge of banking operations, industry trends, credit, economic conditions, risk management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements. In addition, they must possess a track record of driving revenue growth and profitability in a highly competitive environment. The Division President will report to Randy Chesler, President and CEO of Glacier Bancorp; serve as a member and key contributor to the Heritage Bank Board of Directors; and collaborate closely with Glacier’s senior management team. The position will be based in Reno, NV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for bank initiatives, programs, and activities, ensuring achievement of performance goals and support for the bank’s mission, vision, and values, including participation in the development of Glacier’s plans and programs as a strategic partner.
  • Oversee and collaborate with all of the division’s department managers to ensure the bank achieves its goals and maintains a strong competitive position through effective management of all facets of business operations.
  • Provide direct, day-to-day guidance for business banking sales and operations, including leadership of the bank’s relationship managers and commercial lending teams.
  • Meet with key bank clients and prospects to develop new business, and negotiate proposals in collaboration with relationship managers and lending officers.
  • Directly oversee the development of marketing plans, strategies, and initiatives, including CRM, product management, digital, segment analytics, branding, and advertising.
  • Oversee significant asset and property purchases and improvements, including the negotiation of leases and vendor agreements.
  • Approve commercial and consumer loans within approved limits, serve as a member of the Division Loan Committee and the Division Board of Directors Loan Committee, and contribute to loan collection and workout negotiations as needed.
  • Participate in community events throughout the bank’s footprint and remain actively involved with local community-based nonprofits and community service organizations.
  • Manage and oversee the bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives, including prospecting for community development loans and approving related sponsorships and donations as budgeted.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for key operational activities, including finance, budgeting, product pricing, legal affairs, risk management, human resources, and other corporate functions.
  • Manage the overall division budget and financial performance, including profit and loss statements.
  • Coordinate Division Board of Directors meetings, solicit input from the Division Board, and report financial results and insights to the Division Board monthly or more frequently as needed.
  • Identify new business opportunities for expansion within target markets while keeping abreast of market trends and developments.
  • Ensure that all bank activities conform to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop an effective management team; lead the development and monitoring of a division strategic plan and top initiatives, including a management succession plan.
  • Know and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines, as detailed in policies that include, but are not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act and other applicable anti-money-laundering rules, the Right to Financial Privacy Act, fair lending laws, the Community Reinvestment Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and other laws and regulations as they pertain to the position.

About You

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Proven experience working within banking institutions, including executive leadership roles over a period of 15-20 years minimum.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial lending practices, policies, and structure.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local banking regulations with experience dealing directly with state or federal regulators.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships at all levels – internally (including multiple sibling Divisions) – and externally e.g., bank customers, etc.
  • Adept at decision-making under complex situations while exhibiting sound judgement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations on complex contracts on terms advantageous to the bank.
  • Strong technological acumen, including the ability to leverage resource tools for data analysis and metrics monitoring.
  • Excellent organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning.
  • Proven people skills, with the ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Flexible and able to multi-task, able to work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration or another relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An MBA is highly preferred.
  • Significant depth of experience in community or regional banking.
  • 15+ years of financial services experience ideally in commercial banking with a thorough understanding of the regulatory and competitive environment key industry players economic drivers and operating issues.
  • Deep knowledge of all aspects of bank lending, operations, finance, business development, and marketing. An industry reputation that lends credibility and a relevant professional network would be a key advantage. Significant risk management experience, especially credit risk management, is vital.

Starting salary is dependent upon relevant experience and may vary based on the geographic location of the position. We offer an extensive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
