With a commitment to technology and innovation, we have been providing our community, clients and colleagues the best experience possible for over 150 years. Help us transform our workforce of the future, today.

We are seeking a Network Engineer I to join Zions Bancorporation. The Network Engineer I plays a key role in maintaining the reliability, performance, and security of our enterprise network infrastructure. Working under normal supervision and in close partnership with senior engineers, you will gain hands-on experience troubleshooting network connectivity, supporting hardware lifecycle deployments, and monitoring critical infrastructure across our enterprise environment. This role offers an exceptional runway for a motivated technologist looking to expand their networking fundamentals into enterprise-scale routing, switching, and operational excellence while actively growing toward advanced engineering roles.

The Network Engineer I will:

  • Monitoring & Operational Support: Proactively monitor enterprise network health, performance metrics, and alerts to maintain high uptime, identifying and resolving basic network incidents.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution: Diagnose and resolve Tier 1/2 connectivity issues across local and wide-area networks (LAN/WAN), routing/switching equipment, and related network services.
  • Hardware & Configuration Support: Assist senior engineers with provisioning, racking, cabling, testing, and deploying network switches, routers, access points, and peripheral devices following standard operating procedures.
  • Change Management & Maintenance: Support planned maintenance activities, hardware refreshes, and software/firmware patching in accordance with enterprise change management processes.
  • Documentation & Asset Management: Maintain accurate network diagrams, procedural documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and hardware inventory within the configuration management database (CMDB).
  • Project Support & Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional IT and infrastructure teams to support project implementations, testing, and site deployments.
  • Continuous Learning: Actively build technical proficiency across core enterprise technologies, network automation concepts, and industry-standard best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in network administration, network operations, or technical infrastructure support with a strong networking focus.
  • Core Networking Knowledge: Strong foundational understanding of networking protocols and concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, subnets, VLANs, and basic routing/switching.
  • Hardware & Operating Systems: Familiarity with configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise networking hardware (e.g., Cisco or Arista switches, routers, and firewalls).
  • Troubleshooting & Analytical Skills: Demonstrated ability to methodically isolate, diagnose, and resolve technical hardware and software connectivity issues.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical processes clearly and work collaboratively within a team.
  • Growth Mindset: High motivation to learn emerging technologies, take ownership of assigned tasks, and advance technical skills within an enterprise IT environment.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Active Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification or actively pursuing/on track for CCNA certification.
  • Familiarity with enterprise network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, ThousandEyes, Wireshark) and IT service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Exposure to basic scripting or network automation concepts (such as Python, Bash, or Ansible).

Visa Sponsorship:

This position is currently not eligible for employment visa sponsorship (e.g., H-1B visa). This includes, for example, situations where a candidate may have temporary work authorization while enrolled in school or upon graduation (e.g., CPT, OPT) but would need H-1B visa sponsorship within a few years of employment in order to maintain employment eligibility.
