Job Description

At Maverik, we don’t just offer jobs, we offer adventures. Help us find where our next adventure begins. As our Merger & Acquisition Manager, you’ll identify businesses that could become part of Maverik, build relationships with owners and evaluate whether each opportunity makes financial sense. You’ll work with teams across the company to move promising deals from the first conversation through purchase and transition. It’s an opportunity to take ownership of our acquisition pipeline and help shape where Maverik grows next.

Why this role matters

Acquisitions help Maverik grow beyond building new stores. This role connects the right opportunities, relationships and financial decisions to bring more locations into our business and support long-term growth.

Location/Schedule

This role is based at our Salt Lake City Headquarters and follows a full time in office schedule Monday to Friday.

What You’ll do in this Role

  • Continuously identify, research, and evaluate potential opportunities to expand Maverik’s retail store portfolio, with a focus on small- to mid-sized opportunities and businesses that align with the company’s growth strategy.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of potential opportunities through market research, industry relationships, outreach, and ongoing monitoring of relevant retail markets and companies.
  • Analyze the strategic, financial, operational, real estate, and market characteristics of potential opportunities and develop clear recommendations for leadership consideration.
  • Coordinate cross-functional evaluation and due diligence with Finance, Real Estate, Operations, Legal, Construction, and other internal partners to assess feasibility, risks, costs, and expected returns.
  • Support negotiations and transaction processes by organizing information, preparing analyses and presentations, coordinating internal approvals, and working with external advisors and counterparties as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain models, reports, and decision-support materials that communicate opportunity size, investment requirements, expected performance, risks, and strategic rationale.
  • Partner with the Construction, Real Estate, and Operations teams to support the transition and integration of new stores and ensure growth opportunities can be executed effectively.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

You’ll be a great fit for this adventure if you have:

  • 3+ years of experience in retail, real estate, mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, corporate development, business development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and operational information, build business cases, and manage multiple workstreams with a high degree of confidentiality.

Bonus points if you also bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Real Estate, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience evaluating multi-unit retail businesses, real estate opportunities, financial information, or strategic growth opportunities preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: $110,000-$120,000/year + DOE and Bonus Opportunities. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Maverik considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Benefits Include:

  • Full Health, Dental, and Vision Package with company contribution to cost.
  • In-Store and Fuel Discounts.
  • Retirement plan with company match (401K).
  • Eligible for the annual incentive bonus program.
  • Profit Sharing: When Maverik succeeds, so do you. Team Members are eligible for annual profit sharing—our way of recognizing the important role you play in our success.
  • Comprehensive Paid Time-Off Policy, along with additional perks and benefits.
