Ready to join in? Dr. Alejandro, a leading orthopedic surgeon specializing in foot and ankle surgery, is looking for a full-time Medical Secretary to join our team. This role will be responsible for providing administrative assistance to the physician's office and function as a liaison between patients, families, and clinical staff. The ideal candidate will exhibit high standards, have excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, exceptional time-management and organization capabilities, and have the ability to take initiative. This position will located at our Chicago clinic. The work schedule will be Monday - Friday days, no weekends or holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Functions as a liaison between patients, physician practices, internal departments, hospitals and other organizations.
• Close collaboration with the physician and staff.
• Prepares the charts for clinic day.
• Interface with surgery scheduler as needed.
• Educates patients on the logistics of surgery; location, time, what to bring and how to prepare.
• Completes correspondence including faxing, mailing, work comp reports, draft letters, and maintenance of medical appointment schedules for the practice.
• Responsible for assisting to organize any meetings, private records reviews and depositions for assigned physician.
• Represents physicians by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; receiving/announcing scheduled attorneys, salespeople and/or visitors. Screen potential patients and visitors; arranging referrals to other health care providers; scheduling appointments for consultations, x-rays, lab tests, physical therapy, MRI's, CT scans, etc.
• Organize and maintain the practice calendar.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills within the team and to patients.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, emphasis on word, excel, and outlook.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment including problem solving, decision making, strategic thinking, planning, and communication.
• Superior organization skills.
• Flexible and readily available.

Pay Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
