This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day clinical operations of the unit, ensuring efficient patient care management through daily rounding, appropriate patient and staff assignments, and real-time problem-solving support. The position leads quality improvement initiatives, aligns departmental performance to key metrics, and fosters a culture of continuous learning by developing leadership skills among staff through coaching, performance evaluations, and career advancement opportunities. The role also facilitates unit meetings and shared governance efforts, manages staff scheduling, time tracking, supply ordering, and budget oversight, while maintaining a strong focus on patient and employee satisfaction, safety, and retention. Additionally, the position is involved in the selection, onboarding, and orientation of new staff, and plays an active role in both operational and capital budget planning.
The ideal candidate is a Registered Nurse (RN) with a BSN and prior leadership experience in a comparable clinical setting, such as a charge nurse or unit supervisor role. Experience in staff development, performance management, quality improvement, and budget oversight is strongly preferred, as these competencies directly align with the expectations of this position.

Status: Full-Time (8 hour Shifts)
Schedule: 7:30am-4pm
Banner Occupational Health Clinics are medical clinics specializing in worker's compensation injury care, drug testing, alcohol testing, physical examinations, Department of Transportation exams and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) mandated exams. This position plans and provides clinical support to patients and staff. Demonstrates clinical expertise of the assigned area. Provides leadership in clinical, financial, and personnel management within the department.
Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of nursing and healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree in nursing. BSN required for all individuals entering the role effective 2/1/2016. BSN required for internal transfers/promotions within 6 months of transfer/promotion.
Requires a current RN license in state of practice. BLS Required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Must possess at least 1-2 years of clinical experience relevant to patient population. Demonstrates knowledge and skills of specialty area. Requires critical thinking, communication, influence, decision-making, analytical, and flexibility skills to make optimal decisions based on multiple variables and desired outcomes. Requires the ability to balance clinical skills with supervisory authority. Must have the ability to consider the ultimate impact of decisions on the unit. Must have the ability to practice skills according to department and professional standards and quality requirements. Requires New Leader Experience certification within one year. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
