Laboratory Technician

Full-time employment

We are looking for someone who is excited to be part of a mission driven early-stage company. As our Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in keeping our lab running efficiently and productively. You will be working closely with our scientific staff to help with laboratory duties, ordering, shipping, and upkeep. A successful candidate will have the drive to learn all necessary tasks to potentially become a General Laboratory Coordinator. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in laboratory settings. Candidates must pass a background check.

Responsibilities:

• Trained to formulate and prepare stock and media solution routinely
• Trained to maintain inventories and manage ordering of chemical reagents/ supplies required for essential lab functions.
• Facilitate research by working closely with scientists to provide support for tissue culture and molecular biology experiments.
• Perform vital functions to improve overall lab efficiency.
• Sterilization of laboratory supplies and media
• Receive/send shipments to/from couriers
• Maintain clean general work areas
• Routinely generate plasmid stocks for laboratory experiments

Requirements:

• Bachelor's in Biology or a related field
• Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, etc.
• Experience in performing general laboratory duties such as preparing media, buffers, etc.
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Routine handling of objects up to 20 pounds, some standing or walking for an extended period.
• Working knowledge of standard office software tools (i.e. Microsoft Office)
• Experience in mammalian tissue culture is a plus
• 1-2 years of lab experience is a plus
